Us KEP.PEK THE DRUO STORE THAT SERVES YOU BEST. Secret Service Agent Ixcatcs Alleged Plant In Vancouver. Vancouver. Wash., April 28. After four days of almost constant work, Stephen A. Connell, secret service agent of the treasury department, as sistcd by Chief of Police Secrlst and Officer Cresap, yesterday succeeded In capturing two members of what Is considered a dangerous counterfeit ing gang and securing at least the greater portion of their outfit. The two men captured are Lu Turner and James Lucus, while Morris Ramsey, a third member of the gang, Is un der arrest In Portland, where he waa picked up Friday-for passing the bo gus stuff. Turner admits that he has already served a term of two years In the state, prison at Folsom, Cat, for counterfeiting. Turner was arrested at Seattle on March 17 on a similar charge, but for lack of evidence was discharged. He had no sooner been discharged than the sere ret service agent became convinced that he was the man want ed, and decided to follow him. Appar ently the man came directly to this city, as It is now known that the two men have been here for the last four weeks. During this time they have occupied a room In a lodging rtouse at the corner of Eighth and Grant streets where It appears at least the greater part of their operations were carled on and where the-apparatus used was located. Mr. Connell traced the men here, and himself reached the city last Tuesday. Since then, with the as sistance of the police, he has been on the track of the men, endeavoring to locate the plant. The outfit captured consists of a supply of plaster of paris, a gasoline lamp, a considerable quantity of met al, chiefly lead, and a plating outfit. None of the alleged coins were captur ed here. From the amount of dross and slugs captured, It seem certain that a considerable amount. of the bo gus money has already been made, al though neither Of the prisoners will admit this, nor can a trace of the lo cation of the deposit be discovered. Among the outfit Is a treatise on the art of scientific plating. While the officers have been at work on the case for at least four days, they have managed to keep this matter a profound secret. Not until after the men had been locked up yesterday afternoon did the remain ing members of the police force or even the sheriff have the slightest Inkling of the presence of Secret Ser vice Agent Connell In the city or tlx object of the search. It is es timated that nearly 2000 teachers are In Jackson this afternoon for the 23rd onnual convention of the Mississippi Teachers' association, which will open this evening at the Century theater, and more are expected before the real work of the meeting is commenced Department meetings will be held to morrow morning, and additional gen eral sessions will be held tomorrow afternoon and evening and Saturday, The program provides for addresses and papers by the leading educators of the state. Much critical comment Is Indulged In by the teachers because of the fail ure of the state legislature to make an appropriation for the establish ment of a normal and training school for teachers. Georgia Teachers. Augusta, Ga., April 30. Peda gogues from every city and county of Georgia are the guests of the teach ers and citizens of Augusta today and will take part In the annual meeting of the Georgia Educational association opening this evening. All phases of educational endeavor, Including ph slcal culture, manual training, discip line, teachers' salaries and kindergar ten work, will be conatdered during the sessions this evening, tomorrow and Saturday.
