Everybody Is interested in Athena's first market day, which will be held next Saturday, May 2. Fourteen head of fine horses, many head of cattle, and some mules, hogs, poultry, farm stuffs, ets., have already been listed It Is thought that the stuff put up before the date of the sale will amount to nearly $5000. Weston, April 25. Mrs. J. R King died Thursday after an illness of some weeks, from dropsy and heart trouble. The funeral was held yesterday from the United Brethren church and was largely attended. Robert Hayes, one of the students at the Normal, has been very ill for a few days past Charles King and family were here from Hermlston yesterday to attend the funeral of Mrs. J. R. King. Girl Gets Verdict. The case of Mamie Redfield against the Ellensburg school district has finally been settled in the superior court of Kittitas county, the little girl getting 12500 damages, which the school district paid Immediately up on hearing the decision, says the Spokano Chronicle. Two years ago Mamie Rednelu, 6 years old, wa badly burned about the limbs by the overturning of a pall of hot water which was kept on the radiator in the schoolroom. , This Is said to-be the first case In the United States where a school dls trlct has ever been held liable for such damages. The case was fought with vigor by C. B. Graves and C Hovey as attorneys for the school district, and by Henry J. Snively of North Yakima as attorney for the lit tie girl.
