ITS EARLY HISTORY.
Umatilla Ranch was formerly
known as the O. W. Hunt ranch.
Mr. Hunt first saw this land when
freighting hetween Umatilla and
Boise City, in 1862. He was at
tracted hy the fact that the Indi
ans always made this their winter
quarters, owing to the mild climate
and luxurious growth of grass for
their ponies.
It was the dream of his life
to some day own this beautiful
tract and years afterward, after
lie had traversed the entire coast,
freighted over tho inter-mountain
country and built railroads, he re
lumed and bought the land for
the purpose of converting it into
a home ranch.
About two years ago Mr. Hunt
sold tho entire 2500 acres to the
Umatilla Ranch Co., of which
crmpany Mr. W. H. Daughtrey is
manager, and who are the present
owners.
THIS entire trad of land is fenced and in cultivation. IT HAS GONE THROUGH
THE "STARVATION PROCESS" and is now producing fine crops of PEACHES,
PEARS, APPLES, STRAWBERRIES and VEGETABLES OF ALL KINDS yearly.
