The coal situation In Pendleton has not been relieved any this week, al though the dealers are dally expect ing to receive shipments. Practically no coal Is to be had at all, and people are forced to use wood and slabwood. The plan to have Itrltlsh Columbia coal shipped here does not seem to meet with enthusiasm with consum ers, as the price will be beyond the means of many. It is understood that tho freight charges on coal from Al berta will be considerably higher than obtain for shipments from other districts, and of course the price of coal would be necessarily greater. The O. R. & N. seems to be putting forth efforts to relievo the situation, but sec far no announcement has been made that coal will be shipped to this point In the Immediate future. The animal went up to them, cut them neatly with his tusks, which had been purposely suarpeued, and laid them In a neat heap on the floor, ready for pe rusal. Great Britain's Halnfall.
