The White Whittlesey company, presenting the "Soldiers of Fortune" arrived today on the delayed train from the east. Train crews from the east report a heavy fall of snow on the Blue mountains and stormy weather all the way to Huntington. Only the regular freight trains are now running on the mountain division of the O. R. & N. The number of freight crews has been reduced for the present. Work on all the new school build ings is progressing rapidly. The west end school 1b now entirely inclosed and the work of plastering will be completed In a short time. Collins, a prominent wood dealer of Kamela, is in the city to day, en route to Freewater, where his family lives for the winter, to take advantage of schools. James Hunter, of Blackfoot,. Idaho, who has been here for some time, looking over the prospects for a gro cery store, has returned to his home,. but may conclude to locate here later. W. A. Storie, superintendent of the O. R. & N. bridge department, was over from Pendleton this week to examine the work being done by the pile driver crew above La Grande. La Grande Observer. . L. B. Rlnehart, of North Yakima, is at the Bickers today, while In the city en route from a visit to Eastern Oregon. Mr. Rlnehart is a Union county pioneer and was formerly state senator from that county. Mrs. William Blakley received letter from Mr. Blakley at Salem, to day, suying that he was suffering from a severe cold and would be un able to come home this week, with the other members of the Umatilla 'ounty delegation. Engineer Jack Wright, of the Spo knne branch of the O. R. & N., Is off duty for a few days to attend the funeral of Mrs. Keys, who died in this city yesterday. Mrs. Keys was an old acquaintance of Mr. Wright's family. Engineer J. M.
