T. C. TAYLOR The Hardware Man TAMMANY'S OLD CHIEF HACK IX THE HAUNTS, i-ominc Rcrelvod Willi Almost Indifference Not Known Whether Ho Htm Any Intention of Trying to Resume Control of tlio Machine, or Whether Ho Can ir Ho Tries Many Hellovo That Ho Has Relinquished All Amerlenu Amliltloa, Now York, Oct. 11. How true af ter u'l la the old saying "Out of sight, out of mind." It 1st difficult for those who remember the illm(tnblc power In New York city wielded by Richard Grnker a very few years afro to real ize the almost utter Indifference with willed has been received the news that he Is coming back to New York shorty after the election. Ever since Mr. Croker abdicated as chief of the Tammany society gossip has been rife that he would return to New York and resume' control of the organlza- tlon. when he retired there was gen eral skepticism that he was sincere In hl'i stated Intention to abandon pol itics for Rood, but as the repeated ru mors of his intended return failed successively of fulfillment the lead ers i.f Tammany, who chafed under his I -on control, have Rained courage to scoff at the old boss without fear of being lashed for their disloyalty. folders of all parties and polltl- clanr are now convinced that Mr. dolor has no Intention of taking command of the Wigwam, and the iiith irltatlve announcement from for mer Mayor VnnWyck, who Is one of the (X-chlef's closest friends, that Mr. Crol er will visit New York caused hardly a ripple of Interest even In Tanriiauy circles. In the language of the Wigwam, Mr. Croker Is a "has been" In politics, and It Is consider ed extremely doubtful that he could Rain control of Tammany again, even THE PEOPLE ALL lu C'linriiN Cried, Give Vk Nevrliro'a Hrrplclde. Thlj word of lato has been In every one's mouth, and many are wondering what tlio word Blgnltles, though no one has yet been found, who will deny that NEWBRO'S HERPICIDE docs the worK. Well, for the Information of thousands of people who like to know all about a good thing, wo would say that HERPICIDE means, a destroyer or killer of "Herpes," Now "Herpes" Is tlio family name of a disease caused by various vegetable par asites, A similar microbe causes dan druff, Itching scalp, and falling hair; this Is the mlcrobo that NEWBRO'S HERPI CIDE promptly destroys; after which the hair grows. Sold by leading druggists. Send 10c. in stamps for sample to Tha Herpicido Co., Detroit, Mich. F. XV. Schmidt & Co., social agents. If he made the effort. The fact that he Is not coming until after the elec tion Indicates that he has no Inten tion of taking part In politics. Mr. Croker paid his last visit to America about three years ago, when he remained for only a few months. It was during the exciting municipal campaign and he engineered the fight against Low. When that campaign was over Mr. Croker returned to Eng land, where he has a fine estate and Is leading the life of a country gentleman. CARLOAD OF STONEWARE NEW YOHK HAIR TRADE. Gray Hair is Worth Its Weight In Silver or Gold. New York, Oct. 11. The largest dealers In human hnlr In New York, who practically supply the hair crop for the entire country, are authority for the statement that the demand for this commodity was never ns great ns It Is at present. The result Is that the price of nil shades and styles of human hair Is rapidly souring up ward. There has been nn advance In the price of first-class hair from 30 to GO per cent within the last three months. The present Indications are, judging from the size of the crop be ing Imported, that there will be n still further advance In prices during the winter months. One denier said this week thnt It Is almost Impossible to supply the demand for first-class hair. A wig of gray human hair of fine quality Is worth Its weight In silver, or perhaps even In gold. Question or Druggists' Rights. New York. Oct. 11. New York druggists are saying unkind things about a local magistrate who decided that a Third avenue pharmacist had no right to charge for his trouble In arising from his bed in the middle of the night and supplying a customer with D cents worth of mustnrd and the use of the telephone pay station. It Is argued that If physicians charge higher rate for after-bedtime service druggists should have the same right. COMING EVENTS. October 18-27 Oregon W. C. T. U. state convention, Portland. The wearlnes, the tired feeling, The pntns and nches of kidney Ills Are serious If neglected. Dangerous urinary troubles follow. A Pendleton citizen shows you how to avoid them, Henry Williams, retired, living on College street, says; "I hud been troubled off nnd on for three or four yenrs with dull heavy aching across my loins nnd kidneys. It hurt me to stoop or lift anything and when 1 caught cold It generally settled In my back nnd aggravated the complaint. The kidney secretions were Irregular and caused me a great deal of annoy ance, especially during the night, causing me to rise several times, thus breaking my rest so thnt I felt as tired In the morning ns when I went to bed. I rend about Doan's Kidney Pills nnd procured n box at Hrock & McComns Co.'s drug store. Two or three doses convinced me thnt they were what I needed. I have no better way of expressing my opinion of thlN preparation than to say that Doan's Kidney Pills are worth their weight in gold to any one affected with backache or disor dered kidneys. I know of several others who have used this remedy and prnlse It highly." For sale by all dealers. Price DO cents. Foster-Mllburn Co., Ruffalo, N. Y., sole agents for the , United States.
