MERGER F ID ft ft,- I THURSDAY, MARCH 'io, IQoV WASHINGTON DID NOT APPROPRIATE FOR FIGHT. Anotiicr club woman, Mrs. Haulc, of Edgerton, Wis., tells how she was cured of irregulari t;es and uterine trouble, terrible pains and backache by Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound. "A while ago my health began to fall because of female troubles. The doctor did not help inc. I remembered that my mother had used Lyrtin 12. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound on many occasions for irregularities and uterine troubles, and I felt sure that it could not harm me at any rate to give it a trial. "I was certainly glad to find that within a week I felt much better, the terrible pains in my back and sides were beginning to cease, and at the time of menstruation I did not have nearly as serious a time as hereto fore, so I continued its use for two months, and at the end of that time I vraa like a new woman. I really have never felt better in my life, have not had a sick headache since, and weigh 20 pounds more than I ever did, so I unhesitatingly recommend Vegetable Compound." Mns. Owing to the rerusal of the state legislature to sanction the continued prosecution of the suit of the state against the Northern Securities Company, uj" re fnaliiP tn ninko an nnnronrlation of $10,000, as recommded by Govornor McHriclo in his first message, the fu ture of the ramous "merger" suit, as it is known, is purely problematical. Attorney-General Stratton, who in stituted the suit, was in the city yes terday, and in an interview stated that he was not prepared to make any statement regarding the future of the suit. Its present status, he said, was that the matter is now at issue before the ' courts on noints of facts and law. The last pleading filed was a replica tion on the part of the state, and the next move made, if the suit is con I Hmioil 1H lio ! f.ilHn! nf testi mony. To a query as to whether the suit would be abandoned owing to a lack of funds to continue its prosecu tion, Mr, Stratton said that while cer tain plans might have been discussed concerning it, he must decline to make any further statement at this time. During the last session of the leg islature two bills were introduced in the house providing for an appropria tion of $10,000 to cover the cost of the merger suit, as recommended by the governor in Ills message. One of these bills was introduced by Repre sentative J. B. Howard of Lincoln county, representing the republican side of the house, and the other by Representative Mackenzie of Whit man county, a democrat. The bills were referred to the joint appropriation committee for recom mendation, and were defeated and later recommended for indefinite post ponement. On the last day of the session Sen ator Warmurton, of Pierce county, offered an amendment to the general appropriation covering the $10,000 for the purpose stated .which was also defeated on roll call. The sentiment of house and senate alike appeared to i be against the appropriation, as evi denced by the several unsuccessful attempts to enact legislation em bracing the subject. 1 Why 1 Syrupy figs t-: the- best family laxative It is pure.
