A quiet weddinc took place at the home of Mr. and Mr. JomBalina-ot Pendleton on Wnlmw day evening, July 10, Mr. A. L. Jonea oi tbla city and Mra. LiirJe Oartiner of Pendleton being tk-e contracting partiee. The ceremony waa performed by the Rev. George W. Kigby. Both Eartlee are well and favorably known era, Mr. Jonea being the senior mem ber of the firm of Jonea A Winahin. doing bnaineee here aa the Athena Tranafer company. On lharadav mornina Mr. and Mra. Jonea arrived at their home in thta city, and a few minutes later the bride a happineaa and sniilea were turned to grief and tears by a tele graphic communication notifying her of the death of her father, Mr. Isaac Mansfield, aged 6 years, at lloauaim. Wash., at 8 o'clock that morning. Mrs. Jonos left on the evening train and will return with the remains tomor row. The funeral will take plabe in tbia city, the deceased being an old pioneer of this section, having reeided here upward of 30 years. He leaves. be sides his daughter, Mrs. Jones, two brothers, B. F. and F. M. Mansfield, both prosperous farmers residing near tbia city. He also has numerous other relatives in this vicinity, to all of which the heartfelt svmpathy of a large circle of friends t's extended in this their hour of bereavement. He think, the general average will be from 32 to 38 bushels per acre. W. John Misell, a well known rei.l'ht of Pendleton, died at 11 :10 o'clock on the night of Frnlav, July 12, at bis apartments in Mrs. Stratum's pyOfftlgsj hmse on tVmrt street, where he has made his home for the past ten years. Keys and Frank Wilson, the nurse. John Misell was born in West Vir ginia on February 28, 18.N4, and was therefore 47 years. 4 months and 12 davs old. He left his eastern home in 1M; and went tn Iowa. He came to Umatilla county and l.H-attxl at Pen dleton sIhiiiI 20 years ago. He engaged in railroading and afterwards ba m . a bartender, working for many well known saloon men in this city. Includ ing George larvean, of the Hotel t. Gt-orge. K.I Horton, I'll irles Rami ml, Frank Scheinpp, the Golden Rule hotel, and for others. He haa been suffering with consumption for ncarlv a year, hut only gave up work about seven months ago, and for a time was at the Pendleton sanitarium, where he at first improved, hut later kept get ting worse and returned to his rooms, where he died. Poring these months of sickness the Knights of Pythias of Pamon lodfO. No. 4 paid him every attention and made peaceful his closing days. The deceased has a brother residing in Kansas. Altogether, the performance is a kaleidoscope of marvelous feats aud funny acts, aud beyond dount is one of the best ever seen in tbia city.
