All those attending the meeting were given a chance to vote, bal loting not being limited to taxpay ers alone. It was estimated, how ever, that over three-fourths of those casting their ballots were tax payers of the district. Most of the people casting their vote in favor of the construction of a new building stated that they did not favor it just now because of the cantonment swelling the school enrollment for a few months but because they sincerely believed Gold Hill has needed more room for several years. Many of those voting said that they did'not think it was fair to students to have tc attend the local school under pre sent crowded conditions. One voter stated on his ballot, “Yes, I am very much in favor of a new high school building, pro viding it is on a flat piece of ground, but not in favor of a new- building on a mountain.” Another voter said, “Yes, with reserva tions," adding that he thought it would be well to wait until prices on lumber, land, construction work etc. had gone down. Plans Started Here At the fair board meeting held Friday night at the city hall, leas ing of the pavilion was discussed and a committee was appointed to meet witn the parties interested in leasing the building. The cost of ri-stonng the building to a usable condition was prohibitive so that lias been given up. The pavilion was discussed in regard to housing the exhibits. The sewing, cooking and canning departments will be held in the IOOF rooms as former ly and the Boy Scouts have offered their halt for the flower exhibit. Concessions were let out to Girl Scouts for ice cream cones and cho-chos, the location to be decid ed on later, to the Garden Club to sell “Mattson Special” sandwiches and coffee and pie during the noon hour and to the Gold Hill H.E.C. for bar-b-q sandwiches and other things. The Garden Club and Granges are to select their candi dates for queen and princesses and have the names ready for drawing at the next meeting of the board. Mrs. Pauline Tygart was named as chairman for the queen’s float. A committee is being ap pointed to selert a director and committee for a play to be given at fair time.
