Pineapple Sherbet 2 quarts of water. 1 can of pineapple (grated). Juice of two lemons. 2 cups of sugar. 2 tablespoons of gelatin. 3 egg whites. Method: Dissolve gelatin and su gar in water. BAKING HINTS Walnut Cookies 2 cups of brown sugar. 1 cup of melted butter and lard. 2 unbeaten eggs. 2 teaspoons of vanilla. 1 teaspoon of salt. 3% cups of flour. 1 leaspoon of baking powder. 1 teaspoon of soda. 1 cup of chopped walnuts. Method: Cream sugar and short ening. Add eggs, one at a time. Then salt, vanilla and flour. Sift In bak ing powder and soda. Add chopped walnuts. Be sure mixture is stiff. Pack hard into an unbuttered bread pan. Place In ire box over night. In morning, slice thin and bake—12 to 15 minutes in a moderate oven. Makes about 50 cookies.
