The Ace of Spades Saturday Evening AUGUST 15, AT 8 O’CLOCK CAVEMEN DROP GAME TO LOCAL SW ATSMITHS The long looked lor opening of the "Ace of Spades” Gold Hill’s newest and best confectionery, will take place, Saturday evening. About the best game o f baseball played on the local diam ond this season was the one played Sunday afternoon when the cavemen o f Grants Pass met the local base b all clu b fo r the second tim e on the local fie ld . The fo rm e r game was a w a lk aw ay fo r the Grants Pass delegation and was played amid showers w h ic h fin a lly broke up the ball game and even the score keeper did not stop lo fig u re up the score. Sunday’s game was d iffe re n t and the score was very close a ll the tim e being tie d at tw o d iffe re n t stages. T im e ly h ittin g and the scarcity of e rro rs helped to hold the score dow n to the 7-5 count recorded. O ther games are being planned fo r the rest o f the season and the local fans w ill be given more o p por tu n itie s to see the locals in action in the future. A fine new line of candies and tobaccos will be in stock. Fishing equip ment will be handled and expert guide service on the Rogue River will be featured.
