PCC Sets Day to Help Students Find Financial Aid College students in the Portland metro area and Washington County can get free help submitting their federal financial aid (FAFSA) form for 2014. Portland Community College’s Financial Aid Day, which is presented in partnership with College Goal Oregon, is from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Jan. 11 at all major campus- es. The day is perfect for students looking for money to go to college, needing help filling out the FAFSA form, wanting to explore other resources to pay for college, or would like to attend workshops on finan- cial aid and scholarship resources. Federal grants (free money), work-study and loans are the types of financial aid stu- dents may be eligible to receive. In addition, the state of Oregon and PCC have financial aid available. The only way to find out what a student qualifies for is to submit the FAFSA form. There will be plenty of volun- teers on hand at each PCC location to assist in filling out and submitting the application. Project manager Som Subedi spoke of the significance of the sport and the importance of bringing more young people into the heart of Portland. Students do not have to be enrolled at PCC to take part in Financial Aid Day. Spanish language advisers will be available at all locations. Both students and parents should attend if possible. Students and parents should bring Social Security numbers, birth dates, Feder- al Student Aid PINs, proof of income for 2013 including the 2013 W-2s, and last pay stub from 2012, or a copy of 2012 tax returns. Plus, students and parents will need to disclose current value of assets, including cash, checking, savings, investments and value of any businesses or farms.
