FamilyCare Health Plans is hosting a free
flu shot clinic for children and adults at the
Lloyd Center Mall on Saturday, Dec. 14, 9
a.m. – 4 p.m., on the lower-level near Sears.
No appointments are necessary. The mini-
mum age is four-years-old and children
must be accompanied by an adult.
Lloyd Center, located at 2201 Lloyd Cen-
ter, Portland, Ore., 97232, is accessible by
several Tri-Met bus lines and the blue,
green, and red MAX lines.

Philharmonic’s Concert-At-
Christmas Dec. 26

Musical Director David Hattner invites you

Portland Youth Philharmonic’s annual, fes-
tive and family-friendly Concert-at-Christ-
mas on Dec. 26, at 7:30 p.m. at the Arlene
Schnitzer Concert Hall.
Guest Conductor Huw Edwards, former
PYP Music Director (1995-2002) and Port-
land Columbia Symphony Orchestra Con-
ductor Emeritus & Principal Guest
Conductor, will open the concert by leading
the PYP Alumni Orchestra in Verdi’s
“Nabucco.” The evening will then continue
with dynamic performances by all four of
PYP’s ensembles.

PCC Sets Day to Help
Students Find Financial Aid
College students in the Portland metro
area and Washington County can get free
help submitting their federal financial aid
(FAFSA)
form
for
2014.
Portland Community College’s Financial
Aid Day, which is presented in partnership
with College Goal Oregon, is from 9 a.m. to
noon, Saturday, Jan. 11 at all major campus-
es. The day is perfect for students looking
for money to go to college, needing help
filling out the FAFSA form, wanting to
explore other resources to pay for college,
or would like to attend workshops on finan-
cial aid and scholarship resources.
Federal grants (free money), work-study
and loans are the types of financial aid stu-
dents may be eligible to receive. In addition,
the state of Oregon and PCC have financial
aid available. The only way to find out what
a student qualifies for is to submit the
FAFSA form. There will be plenty of volun-
teers on hand at each PCC location to assist
in filling out and submitting the application.

Portland Parks and Recreation’s World Cup of Soccer wrapped up last
month with a City Council presentation on how the sports program – rolled
into a youth outreach project introducing young people to city programs
and possible future employment – has touched a growing number of new
Portlanders. Project manager Som Subedi spoke of the significance of the
sport and the importance of bringing more young people into the heart
of Portland.
Students do not have to be enrolled at PCC
to take part in Financial Aid Day. Spanish
language advisers will be available at all
locations.
Both students and parents should attend if
possible. Students and parents should bring
Social Security numbers, birth dates, Feder-
al Student Aid PINs, proof of income for
2013 including the 2013 W-2s, and last pay
stub from 2012, or a copy of 2012 tax
returns. Plus, students and parents will need
to disclose current value of assets, including
cash, checking, savings, investments and
value of any businesses or farms.
