Marquee Diversity Poet Public Hearings on Portland City Budget A public hearing on the city budget March 6 packed the conference room at the Immi- grant and Refugee Community Organiza- tion in East Portland. Speakers urged the council not to cut support for the East Port- land Action Plan, including early childhood education and a family resource center at Earl Boyles Elementary; and sidewalks on N.E. 136th Avenue, where Morgan May- nard-Cook, 5, was killed last week crossing the road.
