Yang of Nationalist China broke the world decathlon record of for mer UCLA teammate Rafer Johnson Sunday by amassing 6,121 points and he may get as many as 34 points more for his pole vault performance. Roseburg freshman Sherry Sevall won the singles title by defeating runner-up Jill Izett, Springfield High junior 6-0 and 6-2. Class D Title Won By Eugenean Eugene's Bill Pendleton, driving a Triumph TR-4, placed first In Class D of the loyalty Day Sports Car races held Sunday over a 2.4 mile course at Newport. The races at the Newport Airport drew an estimated 5, 000 spectators. Nearly 100 sports cars entered. In the Clas K 4 K race, I.. C. "Tommy" Thomas ot Eugene, driving a Sunbeam Alpine, was second (u Jack ScoviUc of Corvallis in a Porsche. In the same race, Dr. Ccorge M. Larson ot Eugene was forced out alter a colli sion with another car. He was not injured. Oliictals of both the New port Chamber of Commerce and the Oregan region of the Sports Car Club of America called the race "a big suc cess."
