"And you don't even need a green thumb to accomplish the miracle in fact, I'm sure mine is brown," says Mrs. Fred Buell, who's created a picture of outdoor beauty in the family room of their Springfield home. REPORTER You'd think we'd learn sometime that you cannot outguess t h e weatherl Last Sunday we should have inserted a qualifying phrase in our bold and hopeful headline; "Hello sun, goodby rain . . . outdoor living's back again." We did so in our windows; the readers pro claimed, "Hello sun, good by rain (we hope!) . , . outdoor living's back againl" At any rate, the embarrassment was temp ered by the fact that it really was a most heart felt wish brought on by the enthusiasm we felt seeing the mountains of colorful, sunloving mer chandise Hooding in daily. We are reasonably certain (you'll notice the qualification) that it will not rain forever, so let' examine what's new un der the sun. The little shift called the "Lilly" is the current and futur craze. The original Lilly was designed by social ite Lilly Pulitzer. Now the Lilly is every where! We -have them in every conceivable color and print; zebra stripes lined in red, country-quilt patches, bandana prints, huge polka - dots, you name it! The fun and casual comfort of these little shifts make them a must for beach, patio, even for loungewear. The miniature version is called "Minnie" and is the cutest thing going for the toddler set. Our swimshops never looked so bright! Th color choice is endless, two-piece styles are mors in evidence, the Chanel influence is seen with relaxed shapes, fluid fab rics.
