"And you don't even need

picture of outdoor beauty in
the family room of their
Springfield home.
Using a series of graduated
pools and waterfalls, Mrs. Bu

assortment of plants including
both leafy and flowering vari

REPORTER
You'd think we'd learn
sometime that you cannot
outguess t h e weatherl
Last Sunday we should
have inserted a qualifying
phrase in our bold and
hopeful headline; "Hello
sun, goodby rain . . .
outdoor living's back
again." We did so in our
windows; the readers pro
claimed, "Hello sun, good
by rain (we hope!) . , .
outdoor living's back
againl" At any rate, the
embarrassment was temp
ered by the fact that it
really was a most heart
felt wish brought on by
the enthusiasm we felt
seeing the mountains of
colorful, sunloving mer
chandise Hooding in daily.
We are reasonably
certain (you'll notice the
qualification) that it will
not rain forever, so let'
examine what's new un
der the sun. The little
shift called the "Lilly"
is the current and futur
craze. The original Lilly
was designed by social
ite Lilly Pulitzer. She
made straight, knee
length shifts with side
slits in beautiful colors
and prints for herself.
The Palm Beach set
flipped for it so she went
- into business herself to
accommodate her friends.
Now the Lilly is every
where! We -have them in
every conceivable color
and print; zebra stripes
lined in red, country-quilt
patches, bandana prints,
huge polka - dots, you
name it! The fun and
casual comfort of these
little shifts make them a
must for beach, patio,
even for loungewear. The
miniature version is called
"Minnie" and is the cutest
thing going for the toddler
set.
Our swimshops never
looked so bright! Th
color choice is endless,
two-piece styles are mors
in evidence, the Chanel
influence is seen with
relaxed shapes, fluid fab
rics. And speaking of
Chanel here is the neat
est summer-sun beauty
trick yetl Bath oils and
other skin lubricants
have become a manda
tory accessory to combat
the ill effects of sun ex
posure. The new Chanel
No. 5 Oil for the Bath
is the best way to re
plenish the skin's natur
al oils. Just a capful in
the daily bath will do it
and you'll be the sleek,
smooth, scented bathing
beauty stealing the scene
on any beach.
Another dream we have
as we hopefully scan the
weather reports is the )oy
of dining "al fresco." You
can just see your rain
washed deck or patio
basking in the sun with
a gaily clothed table set
with mad and wonderful
ly colored settings ready
for your culinary genius.
A trip through our street
floor gift department will
take that dream even
further. Examine our new
luxury trivets, new colors
in placemats and napkins,
small but practical bas
kets in rainbow hues,
scores of other items that
will make your life mora
enjoyable when once
again King Sol drives

n We used to call them
"Cotton Shops", but now
with the new develop
ments in man-made fib
ers, blends, weaves we
must look for broader
terminology. Hence, our
new Summer Dress

everything that's new in
