Seeking Spring Sunshine Spring came to the Willamette Valley while many Eugene resi dents were in far places seeking the sun (and not always finding it). In Hawaii for two weeks were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Strong, who returned the nast week to welcome home their son John, who attends Shattuck School at Faribault, Minn. John and fellow-student Bill Hemphill, son 01 vt. ana mrs. William Hemphill, flew in from Minnesota in time to watch the final rounds of the State Basketball Tournament. While in Hawaii the Strongs visited Capt. and Mrs. John Hitch cock and two sons, at Pearl Harbor. Capt. Hitchcock, U.S. Navy, is a cousin of Mr. Strong and is the son of George Hitchcock of Eugone. They reported cool, windy weather in ths Islands. Other Eugeneans had to put chains on their cars to get but of Keno where they had stopped overnight en route to Death Valley. Mr. and Mrs. Stuart DeVry and daughters Pam and Janet and Mr. and Mrs. Hilding Norberg and daughter Julie were on their annual trek to the Furnace Creek resort. Th turn pnnnlna. who travel with house trailers, had no trouble with snow in Oregon's mountains but woke up in Reno to several inches of the cold stuff. They reported weather at Death Valley improved as the week went on. They were joined at Furnace Creek by Mr. and Mrs. John Bosse' and daughter Jane of Eu gene and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Meador of Junction City, who were guests at Furnace Creek Inn. Mr. Eyerly previously has ex hibited his work at the Oregon Society of Artists Gallery in Portland and at the Artists Showcase in Eugene. While there they were ioined for two weeks by a cou ple from Marion, Ind., where the Prices formerly uvea. En route home Mr. and Mrs. Price visited at La Jolla, Calif., with the Rev. H. R. White, for mer pastor of St. Mary's Epis copal Church in Eugene, who is a brother-in-law of Mr. Price. The Bob Lacys have had their Eugene sunshine and now are enjoying the snow of the Sugar Bowl atop Donner Pass in California during University of Oregon's spring vacation. Accompanying the Lacys are three of their four children, who took planned absences from school: Becca, 8th grader at Roose velt, Sammy, seventh grader, and Nick, third grader at Con don, Staying home because she didn't want to miss "school" is Maggie, a very conscientious member of Condon kinder garten.
