Seeking Spring Sunshine
Spring came to the Willamette Valley while many Eugene resi
dents were in far places seeking the sun (and not always finding
it). In Hawaii for two weeks were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Strong,
who returned the nast week to welcome home their son John,
who attends Shattuck School at Faribault, Minn.
John and fellow-student Bill Hemphill, son 01 vt. ana mrs.
William Hemphill, flew in from Minnesota in time to watch the
final rounds of the State Basketball Tournament.
While in Hawaii the Strongs visited Capt. and Mrs. John Hitch
cock and two sons, at Pearl Harbor. Capt. Hitchcock, U.S. Navy,
is a cousin of Mr. Strong and is the son of George Hitchcock of
Eugone. They reported cool, windy weather in ths Islands.
Other Eugeneans had to put chains on their cars to get
but of Keno where they had stopped overnight en route to Death
Valley. Mr. and Mrs. Stuart DeVry and daughters Pam and Janet
and Mr. and Mrs. Hilding Norberg and daughter Julie were on
their annual trek to the Furnace Creek resort.

trouble with snow in Oregon's mountains but woke up in Reno
to several inches of the cold stuff. They reported weather at

their Eugene sunshine and now
are enjoying the snow of the
Sugar Bowl atop Donner Pass in
California during University of
Oregon's spring vacation.
