Insert pictures into wooden frames, using plain piece of cardboard for the backing. Seal back with brown paper tape. Attach picture hooks to the frames. If desired,- frames may be painted to match one of the colors in the pictures or given gilt finish. Card Craft Greetings Turned Into Pictures Instead of throwing away those Christmas cards you re ceived during the holiday sea ion, select a few of the most attractive ones and frame them to make new pictures for your walls. All you need to make these elegant, yet inexpensive framed pictures are a few yards of fab ric, simple 8"xl0" wooden frames purchased a the dime store, shellac and glue. Here, from the Picture and Frame Institute are the instruc tions for making a pair of 8"x 10" Christmas card pictures pretty enough to hang in any room in your home. Select the cards you wish to frame and carefully trim away all excess paper. Cover the cards with shellac, using at least three coats and allowing at least an hour's drying time between coats for the shellac to partially dry. While the cards are drying, cover two pieces of 8"xl0" site heavy cardboard with fabric to Reception Tuesday Will Honor Couple JUNCTION CITY Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Peterson will be honored Tuesday at a reception from 2 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to S p.m. in the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James Pate, 271 Cedar St., on their 25th wedding anni versary. Friends of the couple ire asked to call. form an attractive, textured mat ting for the cards. (In the ac companying pictures a piece of glosheen was used.) Use rub ber cement to attach the fabric to the cardboard. When the cards are dry, mount them to the fabric-covered boards with rubber ce ment or, if the cards are printed on very thin paper, the Institute suggests using a thin mixture of flour, water and salt. When mounting the cards don't forget to leave at least a quarter of an inch more space at the bottom of the board than at the top and sides. This vari ation in margin width is to compensate for an optical illu sion which would make a mat, exactly the same size on all four sides, appear to be nar rower at the bottom when hung on the wall. For the final step in this do- it-yourself project, insert the boards into the frames. Cover the back of the picture with a plain piece of cardboard and seal all the edges with brown paper tape. New Scrubber -Polisher Keeps Floors Like New Elevate floor care to a new level of interest with a scrub ber-polisher. Miss Virginia Houtchens, Lane Extension Agent in home economics, says there's not much in the way of floor care this appliance can't do and with the minimum of time and energy. It'll scrub, clean or loosen old wax; buff the floor between waxing; or remove scuffs and rewax traffic areas. But like any appliance, she warns, it must be operated strictly according to the manu facturer's instructions. Another important caution: Never use a floor polisher to apply self-polishing water base wax. "A water base wax must be stroked on," Miss Houtchens stresses. "It dries too rapidly to be applied with a polisher. They are two WRAF (Wo men's Royal Air Force) pilot officers, blonde Fiona Birnie, 20, from Cardiff and brunette Valerie Crowden, 19, from Bur- ton-on-Trent. They are the first women non. graduates to enter the college straight from school. All the thousands of students who have passed through the college in Neither Fiona nor Valerie has a regular boy friend. They are concentrating on their careers. After a year s training here they will become the first women Technical Signals Officers. The girls have their own rooms, but take mess with the hundreds of men officers taking the course. Says Fiona: "All the other students like us being here. It is a long break with tradition, but for technically minded girls, there is good life In the WRAF." Other cautions on using the machine: Turn off the machine un less it's moving. Running it on one spot will damage the floor finish. No need pressing down on the machine. It's already weighted to do the job. Use only a small amount of solution to avoid splattering, and work a small area of the floor at a time. Hang or atand machine up right to store. Never leave it standing on the brushes.
