A year after "birth" she is the Javorite American model of fash on Designer Jules Crahay in the luxurious aalons of Nina Ricci. Before Audrey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Sedor, of Junnyslde, L.I., N.Y., "arrived," -she acted and thought like thou sands of other New York City sec retaries with high school diplo mas. After all, that's exactly what Jhe was. Like many . of them, she 'flreamed of a grand tour of Eu rope, visiting Italy, France, Swit zerland, Austria. So she worked and saved for two years in Erwin, . .Wasey, Ruthrauff and Ryan, an advertising firm in New York. Then took two months' leave of absence and set out to attain her goal with a girl friend. , MOVIE PLOT The trip probably was like many another taken by an Amer ican working girl abroad until 1! the last four dayi which Audrey had saved, for Paris. What happened then reads like a movie plot. Audrey explains: "On our last day we were hav ing lunch in a little bistro near the Madeleine, At the next table was a group of young French men. One of them was Jules Cra -hay. Through a member of the stoud who spoke English, he -asked me whether I would be in terested in a job as a model with Nina Ricci." . An appointment was made for ""that afternoon. Audrey was asked to try on a eouple of dresses. ""They fit. She was offered a job on the spot because Crahay de cided that she personified his fav orite exotic "gypsy look." .NEW AUDREY '' But Audrey had to go back to New York. These hours with little sleep come twice a year, in each of the months immediately be fore the seasonal showings in January and mid-summer. But there also have been side trips to model Ricci collections in London, Casablanca and the major French provincial cities. The pert New Yorker now lives in an apartment on the Left Bank with another American girl, a student, iney snop ac local stores. Never has she run into anti-American feeling. "Instead everybody has been extremely kind and helpful, par ticularly in the beginning when we had some difficulty making ourselves understood." And now this new "baby" is growing up in a dream she never believed could happen to her. Canadian' Lass Wins Auditions SEATTLE (St Heather Thom son, 20, an attractive lass from Canada, won the Metropolitan Opera s Northwest Regional Audi tions Sunday at University of Washington. Miss Thomson, a soprano from Vancouver, B. C, will be sthis area's representative in the semi final auditions at the Metropoli tan Opera House April 3. If she should win in New York city, sne will be entitled to a $2,000 scholarship and a contract with the Metropolitan Opera Company. Second place was won by Mrs. Joan Winden, 29, of Seattle, i mezzo-soprano. Mrs. Winden is a cousin of William and A. B. Hallstrom and a niece of the G. A. Hall stroms, all of Eugene. She teaches voice at Pacific Luther an College- in Tacoma. Her husband, also a singer, is work ing for his master's degree at University of Washington and teaching there. Carole (Mrs. Stanley) Slew art of Eugene represented Ore gon in the lyric soprano class at the auditions. Helen C. Bolton, 22, of Port land, a mezzo-soprano, won third place and the $100 Anne duPont Fayton Memorial Award. Jack E. Turner, 29, Seattle baritone, was fourth. Leonard R. Gaskins, 32, Tacoma lyric-tenor, took fifth place and $100 Seattle Opera Guild Award. - The judging was by Richard Crooks of Los Angeles, a former tenor for the Metropolitan.
