PARIS (NEA) Life began
lor pretty, New York-born Aud

A year after "birth" she is the
Javorite American model of fash
on Designer Jules Crahay in the
luxurious aalons of Nina Ricci.
Before Audrey, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Sedor, of
Junnyslde, L.I., N.Y., "arrived,"
-she acted and thought like thou
sands of other New York City sec
retaries with high school diplo
mas. After all, that's exactly what
Jhe was.
Like many . of them, she
'flreamed of a grand tour of Eu
rope, visiting Italy, France, Swit
zerland, Austria. So she worked
and saved for two years in Erwin,
. .Wasey, Ruthrauff and Ryan, an
advertising firm in New York.
Then took two months' leave of
absence and set out to attain her
goal with a girl friend. ,
MOVIE PLOT
The trip probably was like
many another taken by an Amer

the last four dayi which Audrey
had saved, for Paris.
What happened then reads like
a movie plot.
Audrey explains:
"On our last day we were hav
ing lunch in a little bistro near
the Madeleine, At the next table
was a group of young French
men. One of them was Jules Cra
-hay. Through a member of the
stoud who spoke English, he
-asked me whether I would be in
terested in a job as a model with
Nina Ricci." .
An appointment was made for
""that afternoon. Audrey was asked
to try on a eouple of dresses.
""They fit. She was offered a job
on the spot because Crahay de
cided that she personified his fav
orite exotic "gypsy look."
.NEW AUDREY
'' But Audrey had to go back to
New York. So it wasn't until sev
eral months later when Ricoi and

18, a French girl is more mature
than her American counterpart is
at 26."-
Audrey does well financially,
despite the fact that it takes her
two hours to make as 'much as
she would in one hour in the
same position in New York. She
is very much in demand posing
for international fashion maga
zines. '
LONG HOURS
She admits the work is hard;
there are grueling hours of stand
ing while Crahay works out his
Dartfcular ideas for eacn manne
quin. These hours with little
sleep come twice a year, in each
of the months immediately be
fore the seasonal showings in
January and mid-summer.
But there also have been side
trips to model Ricci collections
in London, Casablanca and the
major French provincial cities.
The pert New Yorker now
lives in an apartment on the Left
Bank with another American girl,
a student, iney snop ac local
stores. Never has she run into
anti-American feeling.
"Instead everybody has been
extremely kind and helpful, par
ticularly in the beginning when
we had some difficulty making
ourselves understood."
And now this new "baby" is
growing up in a dream she never
believed could happen to her.
