Engineers Ask Bids On Dam Equipment Bids are being invited for (he design, manufacture, test and de livery in Oakndge of a power transformer and appurtenances for the Hills Creek Dam power house on the middle fork of the Willamette River. The Army Engineers will open bids on the project in Portland at 2 p.m. Aug. 4. Cost is estimat ed at $200,000. The transformer delivery deadline is Nov. 1, 1961. WEATHER FORECAST Partly cloudy skies are predicted for Tuesday' night Tn'd Wednesday in western Oregon. Cold fronts moving across the nation will bring show ers and thundershowers to the Great Plains, Mississippi Vallev and through the Ap palachians into Florida. A cooling trend is expected through the central Plains into portions of the northern and central Rockies, where snow flurries are possible. Project Opposed WASHINGTON OH The Eisen hower administration announced Monday through its Budget Bu reau it was opposed to the Fos ter Reservoir project on the South Sanitam River in Oregon, as outlined in a bill passed last Friday by the Senate. It was one of 43 projects to which the Budget Bureau voiced objections on several grounds. The Foster project, listed at S17,340,000, was one of several flood control jobs objected to on the ground that it failed to meet the administration formula for minimum local contribution of 30 per cent of the cost. Flower Show Planned SALEM (UP1) The floral de partment of the Oregon State Fair will have three three-day amateur cut flower shows this year. Last year there were two four-day shows. A major change in the commercial garden division stip ulates that only one entry will be allowed in each class.
