Lane County 4H'ers Calendar Events Their school books shelved until next fall, some 1800 4-H'ors still will be among Lane County's busiest people as they plan sum mcr vacations to include at least one or two of four major 4H events. On the calendar are: 45th an nual 4-H summer school on the Oregon State College campus, Corvallis, June 18 to 25; the Eu gene Farmers' Creamery Dari gold award trip for "cream of the crop" dairy herdsmen, Junn 11 to 13; a week's outing at Camp Lane on the Siuslaw River, July 11 to 16 or July 18 to 23; and the earliest Lane 4-H Fair on record, July 27 to 30. Thirty-one 4-H dairy herdsmen from Lane, Linn, Douglas, and Benton counties are making the Eugene Farmers Creamery tour to San Francisco. They left Sat urday by train and return today. Registrations also are complete for Lane County's quota of 80 4-H crs who have been awarded scholarships to attend the 45th annual session of the 4-H summer school in Corvallis. The 60 youth were selected by the Lane County 4-H scholarship commit tee. Lane's delegation will join about 2,000 4-H'ers from all parts of the state for a week of classes in home economics and agricul ture, a program of sports, as semblies, and social events, and a sampling of "what it's like at college." Four-H'ers with a yen for group living and the greatest out doors are making reservations for one of two sessions at 4-H camp Lane, 15-acrc site on the Siuslaw River, 43 miles west of Eugene. First session, July 11 to 16, Is reserved for boys and girls in the seventh grade or over; the second session, July 18 to 23, for boys and girls in the sixth grade or under. William is first, now taking his award trip to San Francisco as one of the outstanding 4-H dairy herdsmen. Linda and Robert have been awarded scholarships to 4-H Summer School on Oregon State College campus, June 18 to 25, and David will attend 4-H camp, July 18-23 tne earliest on record. This is Lane County's only all-youth fair and is devoted entirely to 4-H entries and exhibits. Last year's fair attracted some 1300 exhibits including 450 head of stock. This year's fair will include first -time features to be an nounced later and the traditional events stock auction, showman ship contests, cooking and judg ing demonstrations, exhibits, and style revue. Premium books will be mailed to all 4-H members this month. Detailed information on the Lane 411 program and the special events may be obtained by calling Miss June Pchrson and J. R. '40 0 0 Eugene to Host OVMA Group Lane County Auxiliary of the Oregon Veterinary Medical Assn. met the past week to discuss ar rangements for the September conference of the state organiza tion to be held in Eugene. Members were guests of Mrs. Herrick Wheeler for a luncheon at Eugene Country Club. Out-of-town guests were Mrs. Dallas Jones of Roseburg, president of the OVMA Auxiliary, and Mrs. W. D. Morgan of Enterprise, in coming president. Others in attendance were Mrs. Jack Moye, Mrs. M. L. Newman, Mrs. Rod C. McCornack and Mrs. J. A. Flanigan. Mrs. Flanigan has been named convention com mittee chairman. Eugeneans Tour Europe By VIRGINIA IIENDRICKSON Of the Register-Guard Three Eugene families who will tour Europe together almost need a travel coordinator to keep their itineraries straight. Sailing June 15 from New York on the Queen Mary will be Mr. and Mrs. John C. Nicol and their three children, Rick, Keith and Cathryn, Dr. and Mrs. T. F. Bnnton and Dr. and Mrs. Robert K. Cougill. The Cougills left early last week via Los Angeles, the Brintons via Seattle to leave their children with relatives, and the Nicols will visit relatives in Scotland and Ireland, and will meet the other two couples in London. They will go together to Paris near where Dr. CougilPs brother Col. John Cougiil and Mrs. Cougill reside. OMTAGroup1 Plans Dinner Eugene District of Oregon Mu sic Teachers Assn. will meet for dinner Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. R. F. Cleveland, 90 Butte Lane. A special guest will be Miss Iris Grey, member of the music school falculty at Oregon State College, who is here adjudicating the Oregon Music Teachers state syllabus examinations and audi tions. A short business meeting will follow the dinner. Assisting Mrs. Cleveland will be the social committee, Mrs. Lowell Chase, Mrs. Oliver Hunt, Mrs. Nell Murphey Dickson, and Mrs. Percy Brown. Roberts of Harrisburg, was married recently to Louis Maggi of Los Angeles, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Maggi of Boston, Mass. The double-ring ceremony was performed at the Little Church of the West in Las Vegas, Nev. The bride wore a semi-formal dress of chiffon with satin and lace trim. Attending the couple were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Maples of Los Angeles. The bride is a graduate ot Har risburg High School and was for merly employed at Pacific Tele phone-Northwest in Eugene. She presently is employed in the ac counting department of an elec tronics company and the groom is an engineering writer for an other electronics firm. Mr. and Mrs. Maggi are at home at 706 South Normandie Ave., Los Angeles. They plan to visit her parents here July 4 and his family in Boston, in November. MK. AND MKS. Mrs. Ruth's birthday, which is June 13, was observed early to avoid conflict with graduation of her granddaughter, Beth Teague, Sunday from University of Oregon. Miss Virgie Roberts, who will be married to Donald Campbell on Juno 18, was honored at a re cc. t bridal shower given by Mrs. Robert H. Powell. Mrs. Powell was assisted by her mother, Mrs. A. F. Marriott. The evening was spent making a bridal gown of paper doilies ar.d tissue paper for the honor guest, complete with a full-length veil, mitts and a nosegay of pa per flowers.
