Long camp-run logs ranged from $.35 to $40, mostly around $38. Short logs were $1 to $2 less. No. 2 second growth brought $35 to $3B, with "peelables" up to $45. No. 2 old growth was $40. All No. 3 sawlogs were $26 lo $30. Eight-foot logs were $14.50 to $16.50 a cord. Sixteen-foot logs were $1 less. At Coos Bay No. 2 "third-growth" sawlogs were $33 to $35 a thousand run logs were S30 to $37, mostly $35. Short logs were 52 to sj less. no. i old-growth sawlogs were $43 to $45. No. 2's were $36 lo $38 and No. 3's were $26 to $30. PeelerH were $60, $70, and $80 to $85 a thousand, with some quoted to $100. Outlying areas paid $2 to $4 below Bay prices. PULPWOOD: A paper mill at Ore- Ron City Is back in the market for R-foot second growin unugias nr. un til recently the pulpwood market for Douglas fir had been inactive for aome time. Hemlock, spruce and white fir were $15 a cord at St. Helens. The same spec es were 515 a cord $28.50 to $30 a thousand, at Coos Bay. Hemlock and true firs were $1 cord at Oregon City. HARDWOODS: Alder, ash, and maple at Portland brought $36 a thousand for 16-inch diameters. Eleven-inch logs were $34. and eight-inch logs were S30. Ten-inch alder brought $32 at Willamina. OTHER FOREST PRODUCTS: Tho Willamette National r'orest plans to buy cones. Anyone interested can ob tain a permit and price information from the local ranger. Douglas fir and white fir seed cones were quoted at $3.50 a sack at Salem. Hemlock was $7 a bushel, and Western red-cedar was 15 cents a pound. Swordforn was 10 cents a bunch. Dry cascara bark was 15 cents a pound. At Cons Bay, nalal was 18 cents a hunch, and huckleberry brush was 20 cents. home and contribute home's basic livability. LIMITATIONS The size of the improvement loan allowed under these provis ions is limited by the amount n the mortgage paid off, and by the lender's willingness to lend. If the improvements were made under the regular FHA improve ment and repair program, it would be subject to a $2,500 ceil ing, and could not run for more than three years and 32 days, and the FHA could not insure more than 80 per cent of its value. SOMETIMES MORE For one type of improvement adding rooms a home owner can borrow more than the paid-off portion of his mortgage, under certain conditions. Open-end mortgages still re quire state concurrence.
