Wheat Quota Voting Friday Lane Polling Places In Eugene, Junction This Friday, at Iwo different 43V I polling places, wheat Rrowers of S8'4 Lane County will vote for or J'W Igaalnst marketing quotas for the I I ,ee j:',).J imp. The referendum, according to H. H. Myers, Chairman of the Lane County Agricultural Stabil ization and Conservation Com mittee, will determine whether or not the quota program now in effect will continue for next year's crop. Two-thirds of those who vote must approve quotas before they can be put into operation, ine current program, which was vot ed on a year ago, was approved by 87 per cent of the voters. ELIGIBLE TO VOTE Chairman Myers urges every eligible wheat grower in Lane County to vote. A producer is eligible to vote if he will have more than 15 acres of wheat on his farm for harvest in 1955. In other words, he can vote if he would be affected directly by quotas, which apply only to farms with more than 15 acres of wheat. "There still seems to be a good deal of misunderstanding among farmers regarding the ef fect of the coming referendum on acreage allotments," Myers said Tuesday. Whether quotas are approved or not, the wheat allotment pro claimed by the secretary of ag riculture will be in effect for the 1955 crop. The controlling legislation requires the establish ment of wheat acreage allot ments every year, unless they are suspended because of emer gency conditions. "Allotments are the basis for quota administration when quo tas are in effect, but when there are no quotas the allotments are still in operation. "Producers must comply with acreage allotments in order to be eligible for price supports with or without quotas." PRICE SUPPORT If quotas are approved, Myers added, there will be marketing penalties on any "excess" wheat produced outside the acreage allotment and the full level of price support authorized for 1955 will be available for those who comply with their allot ments. If quotas are not ap proved, there will be no quotas or marketing penalties, and price support for those who stay with in their allotments will be at 50 per cent of parity. Farm allotment notices, as well as an explanatory leaflet giv ing the essential facts of the 1955 program, were sent out on July 14 to Lane County wheat grow ers of record. The following vot ing places in the county will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 23: For voters of Cottage Grove, Etmira, Eugene, Lorane, Pleas ant Hill, and Springfield com munities, the Lane County ASC office, Osburn Hotel, Eugene. For voters of Junction City community, the Grange Hall at Junction City; Irving community voters will vote at the Junction City Grange Hall or at the ASC office in Eugene. 45c 55c I I OIIMII SHOES For MEN and WOMEN B U R C H ' S 1060 Willamette Legajj NOTICE OF FINAL SETTLEMENT Notice is hereby given that the Circuit Court of the State of Oregon for the County of Lane has fixed Wednesday, the 28th day of July, 1954, at the hour of 10:00 a.m. o'clock at .h Cir cuit Court Room in the court house In Eugene, Lane County, Oregon as the time and place for hearing objections, if any there be, to the final account filed by the undersigned in the estate of Ida May deBra, de ceased, and for settling said es tate.
