Murphy showed two films, one on child shyness, which he said can be serious enough to require expert psychiatric diagnosis and treatment, and one entitled "Children Limited," made in Washington state institutions for the mentally deficient. Dr. Lloyd Gillette, director of special education for Eugene School District 4, outlined Lane County facilities for care of handicapped children. He said the program includes pilot class- now being conducted as an experiment in Springfield, the Pearl Buck School for Retarded Children, The Children's Hos pital School, and the Skipworth Juvenile Home, each serving a different segment of children. Gillette said the lack of funds for salaries and facilities and the need for teachers with spe cial training are the greatest problems in these special pro grams. A third session dealing with mental health problems is scheo uled for 8 p.m., March 26, at the Springfield Memorial Bldg., North A and 8th Sts.
