Pase 2C, Register-Guard, Eugene, Ore., Sun., Aug. 21, 1948 Yellow Organdy Chosen By Bride For Wedding Gown St. 'Mary's Episcopal Churrh was the scene it the wedding of Miss Virginia Gamble, .daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Gamble of Eugen, to Donald K. Valen tine, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. Ir wjn Valentine of Redlands, Calif., August 8. The Rev. Ernest Bart lam officiated at four o'clock in the afternoon. Miss Gamble wore a gown of palest yellow organdy with white eyelet embroidery trimming the full skirt, which had a deep hem of white organdy. The bodice wai made with a Peter Pan collar trimmed with buttons. She wore white elbow length gloves, a white horsehair picture hat, and white linen pumps." She carried a spray bouquet of yellow "Rap ture" roses and Shasta daisies. For ornament she wore a string of gold beads, which had be longed to her great, great grand mother. Miss Margery Warila of Astoria was bridesmaid, wearing a gown nf pale blue dotted swiss with white accessories and carrying a bouquet of Shasta daisies. Jack L. Wood, brother-in-law of the bride, served as best man. Frank D. Timmons of Coquille was usher. Mr. Gamble gave his dauRhtor in marriage. , White gladiolus were used to decorate the church. "Ave Maria" and "O Perfect Love," were sung by Clyde Everton, with Mrs. Bartlam at the organ. A reception was given by the bride's parents at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Watson. Mrs. Jack L. Wood, a sister of the bride, and Mrs. O. L. Ireland poured. Mrs. Everett O'Neel cut the cake. Decorations were of white cosmos blossoms. ANDERSON of Eugene celebrated their, golden wedding anniversary this month, at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Owen Callaway, In Ney Rochelle, N. Y. They are shown above with Mrs. Callaway. on a wedding trip to Whidby Island on Puget Sound. For go ing away, she wore a dressmaker suit of brown and white check with brown accessories and a corsage of yellow roses. Anderson of Eugene, who are visiting at the home of their daughter. and snn-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Callaway, In New Rochelle, N. V., celebrated their fiftieth wed ding anniversary August 10. Mrs. Callaway entertained in their honor at a buffet supper at the Callaway Home, 74 Lord Kitch ener Road, New gochelle. The Andersons have been vis iting in' the east for the past six months, but expect soon to re turn to Eugene, where they make their home at Sunset Home. Mr. Anderson was owner of the Tall man Photo Studio in Eugene from 1912 until 1945, when be retired. Mrs. Anderson was born at Christiansand, Norway, rnd Mr. Anderson in Malmo, Sweden. They lived in Morris, Minn., pri or to coming to Eugene In 1912. MISS WOOD RETURNS FROM EASTMAN SCHOOL Miss Carolyn Wood is expect ed home today, Sunday, from Rochester, N.Y., where she has spent two weeks In special study of photography. She was sent by her employers, the Dotson Photo Shop, to attend the Eastman Kodak Company School. Miss Wood is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Wood. VISITORS LEAVE Miss Eve Richmond of Woos--ter, Ohio, and her traveling companion, Dr. Jean Douglas, also of Wooster, visited in Eu gene with two sisters of Miss Richmond, Mrs. E. W. Armes and Mrs. R. E. Griswold. The women left late in the week to return east by way of San Francisco and Los - Angeles, planning also to visit the Grand Canyon and other points of in terest. Miss Richmond is a pro fessor of voice at the College of Wooster, where she has been for twenty-two years, and Dr. Douglas is a practicing physi cian. with black faille. 14.95 Meizanin f Engagements Announced Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Kennedy of Santa Barbara. Calif., announce the engagement of their daugh ter, Nancy, to William Hutchin son, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hutchinson of Eugene. The wedding will be in early fall at Santa Barbara. Miss Kennedy was graduated from Eugene High School two years ago and has been employed in Eugene since that time. Mr. Hutchinson is a University of Oregon student and is affiliated with Theta Chi social fraternity. He will complete his studies at the university next year, and the young couple will be at home in Eugene after the wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy are former residents of Eugene. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Hodgins of Eugene have announced the engagement of their daughter, . Audrey, to Donald Brock, son fit Mrs. Alta Brock of Harrisburg. No date has been set for the wedding. t Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kirk of Junction City announce the en gagement of their daughter, Ala dene, to Stanley Leake, son of Mr. and Mrs. Allen R. Leaks of Pendleton. The wedding will take place in December. Miss Kirk is a junior at Ore gon State College where she is a member of Delta Gamma. Her fiance is entering his senior year at Oregon State. He is a member of Sigma Nu. Mr. and Mrs. Paul C. Tebbs of Springfield announce the en gagement of their daughter, Patricia Lou, to Charles Weath ers Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Weathers of Springfield, formerly of Toledo, Ohio. No definite date has been set for the wedding. Miss Tebbs at attended Creswell High School ' and will be a senior at Spring field High School. Engagement of Miss Norma Jean Fix, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Fix of Cottage Grove, to Morris Adams was an nounced August 4 at a shower given by Mrs. Edith Perry . of Cottage Grove. The wedding ' will take place early in Septem ber. Ushers were Eugene and James Harrison, the bride's brothers; John Landale, and Reedy Berg. Banks of Woodwardia fern decked the platform of first altar. Clusters of white stock and pink chrysanthemums were at tached to the foremost candela bra. Misses Lois Schmidt and Janice' McCoy lighted the pale pink tapers which formed an arch above the altar. Special music at the wedding Included a medley of Alpha Delta Pi and Sigma Nu selec tions. "Thine Alone" and "Be cause" were sung by Miss Leona Anderson of Tillamook, soloist, who was accompanied by Miss Mary. Grubbs. The reception was held at the Alpha Delta Pi sorority house. Serving wedding cake were Mrs. Don B. Martin and Miss Imo gene Love. Miss McCoy poured coffee and Miss Schmidt served punch. Pink and white chrysanthe mums decorated the bride's table, gladiolus in pink and white decked the reception rooms of the sorority house. For going away the bride wore a grey, glen-plaid suit with grey and pink accessories and a cor sage of rubrum lilies. After a honeymoon at Vic toria, B.C., the couple will be at home in Springfield. Their ad dress, after August 28, will be 741 North Fifth Street. The bride is a , member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority, and the groom is a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. Mr. Williamson was graduated from the University of Oregon where he was student body president.
