Sheriffs in Action The Hancock Countv sheriff telephoned Sheriff Hogg of Brooke County and asked for a deputy to meet him and Karo in Follansbee W. Va. From Follansbee. the "Parkers burg Traveller" was taken to Wheeling by an Ohio County dep uty. At Wheeling, he was fed and given a bus ticket to Parkersburg. The "pony express" had done its job. During the ride through Ohio County, the octogenarian was re luctant to talk about his past. frozen In Billiard Indicating his wooden legs, he said, "I froze the good ones off in the big blizzard of 1909 in Mon tana. Didn't think I'd pull through that, but I did. "Made these I got on myself," he confided. "Carved them out of white willow. White willow's the best material for store legs. Better than that plastic and aluminum stuff they're using." Karo admitted to better days. "Was a machinst for the rail roads. Worked on most of them.
