Jack Crooks Is leaving this week end for Phoenix, Arizona, called there by the illness of his wife Julia, who has had a relapse and may need surgery. Mrs. Crooks has been in Phoenix since last fall. They were not the main losers in the brooder house fire. They lost only their work and a few personal belongings. Mr. and Mrs. Reese Patrick are the proud owners of a new car. Several people heard the radio report that Gillespie Corners was under water In the recent flood, But far be It from that. We were cut off from Eugene as both main highways were flooded. Those who found it necessary to go to Eugene went over the Fox Hol low road and in on south Hilyard street. They reported it rough going but passable. Don't laugh, we know that is as much as can be said for the main roads now. It takes 45 minutes to drive from here to Crow, about seven miles on the state highway. Michener, aged 82, of Mulvane, Kansas. She was formerly Llnna Ramsay and was born at Halsey, Aug. 8, 1866, the daughter of Jacob and Louisa Ramsay. She attended Albany College and later was Linn county school teacher. While teaching she met and married Mr. C. H. Michener, principal of the school. They were married In Hal sey, in 1893 and continued to teach together until he went to Cincinnati to study medicine.
