Several people heard the radio
report that Gillespie Corners was
under water In the recent flood,
But far be It from that. We were
cut off from Eugene as both main
highways were flooded. Those
who found it necessary to go to
Eugene went over the Fox Hol
low road and in on south Hilyard
street. They reported it rough
going but passable. Don't laugh,
we know that is as much as can
be said for the main roads now.
It takes 45 minutes to drive from
here to Crow, about seven miles
on the state highway.

HALSEY Word has been re
ceived by frtendi here ot the
death of Mrs. Linna C. Michener,
aged 82, of Mulvane, Kansas. She
was formerly Llnna Ramsay and
was born at Halsey, Aug. 8, 1866,
the daughter of Jacob and Louisa
Ramsay. She attended Albany
College and later was Linn
county school teacher. While
teaching she met and married Mr.
C. H. Michener, principal of the
school. They were married In Hal
sey, in 1893 and continued to
teach together until he went to
Cincinnati to study medicine. Af
ter completing his course they
moved to Mulvane, Kansas
