Get up high enough see the com munity as a whole and those little discords blend together into what we call America a free, harmoni ous land. A Likely Clue But a more likely clue appeared In n Mnilrge . , which charged that the United States displayed an "isolationist mentality1; toward Indian prob lems, and asserted this country would not "risk provoking Brit ain's wrath by helping India ob tain her independence." The end of the war in Asia has meant whether vnn isita i the return, or attempted return, ui uie wnue man to the imperial system under which he lived be fore the war. As an ally of Brit ain, we are getting part of 'the blame for this attempted return, which in some places like Indon esia and Indo-China has met vio lent resistance. Up to now that violence has flared only fitfully in India in the form of local riots, but with the approach of expected famine there's an excellent chance it may grow much lnrffpr. Return Of Control The returning or continuing control of the white man in such areas is in the tump nf nM 0a order, with gradual liberation promised. Surplus Twin Beds Plague Housing Men VANCOUVER, Wash (U.R) I'our-thousand sets of twin beds are still plaguing the Vancouver housing authority no end today. The twin trouble reached its height during the peak of produc tion in the shipyards when work ers took any housing and fur nishings available. Of the 6000 furnished family units, 4000 had twin beds because some psychol ogist in the FPHA said that was the way to increase production in the shipyards. But the virile shipbuilders hadn't read the same phychology books. They raved and they roar ed.- They threatened to quit if they couldn't have double beds. ' "Are you trying to break up the family? Doncha want a woman to love her husband?" one husky woman welder shouted above the din at one of the period mass meetings protesting twin beds. Only Woman Chaplain Discharged From Army FORT LAWTON, Wash. U.PJ The first and only woman chap lain in the United States Army, Wac Lt. Eleanor G. Collie left here today for Camp Beale, Cal., to return to civilian life. A native of Boston, Chaplain Collie served 31 months in the army. She enlisted in July, wis, and was commissioned at Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., five months later. After attending St. Lawrence Uni versity in Massachusetts, she was ordained in May, 1938, following study at Camton (N.Y.) Theologi cal School. Chaplain Collie served as post chaplain for five months at Fort Oglethorpe and later was assigned to the WAC hospital detachment at Fort Lawton. It All Started With Chickenpox VANCOUVER, Feb. 21 M Nine-year-old Jimmy Hilborn was recovering from, chickenpox when pneumonia hit him. Four days later the crisis was past but his stomach was sore. "Appendicitis," the medics agreed. No sooner was he conval escing from the operation than tonsillitis laid him low.
