A program of missionary talks and musical numbers has been planned. . . successful use since t? lit (ml, crum muhit ACnVOl- WW SOooyt' Ree'dsport Girl To Wed Canadian REEDSPORT Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Alvin Burdick announce the engagement and approach ing marriage of their daughter, Virginia Elizabeth, to Signal man Edward Henry Moore of the Royal Canadian signal corps. The ceremony will take place Sunday afternoon at three o'clock at the Burdick residence in Reedsport. Miss Burdick is a member of the Spars and has been stationed in Seattle for the past year. Her fiance has been a member of the Canadian signal corps for the past six years, and partici pated in the Normandy Invasion. At present he is stationed near Vancouver, B. C, and will be discharged in March. The young couple plans to live in Seattle where both will rc.urn to school following re lease from the service. ENGAGEMENT TOLD OF SPRINGFIELD GIRL Announcement was made re cently at San Jose, Calif., of the engagement of Miss Zena Vail, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred L. Vail of Springfield, to James ' Caulley, whose home is In Mis souri. Both young people are students at the San Jose Bible college,- preparing to become mis sionaries. Their wedding will be late in May. Cornell, who is in charge of arrangements for the production of the cook book to be published under auspices of the Welfare League in Sep tember, has announced her com riittees as follows: General com mittee, Mrs. W. E. Moxley, Mrs. Lynn S. McCready and Mrs. Julio Sylva; art committee, Mrs. C. L. Manerud, chairman, and Mrs. Frank Senn, vice chairman; business committee, Mrsi Julio Sylva, chairman, Mrs. L. W. Manerus, vice chairman. It is hoped to have the book ready for sale by September 1, so that it will be readily avail able for Christmas giving. In previous experiences with sim ilar publications, this plan has been found most successful. Recipes are being sought from among members of the league, and from non-members as well. CONFERENCE SLATED Women of the Moose have planned a series of events for this week, which will be climax ed by the mid-winter conference of the group to be held here i Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Monday the regular card party will be held at the Moose hall, with Mrs. Robert .Nesbitt as hostess. Mrs. Nesbitt also will be hostess to the sewing club at her home, 329 Eighth Atenue 'east, Monday evening at eight o'clock, and at the Tuesday eve ning card party scheduled for eight o'clock at the Moose hall. Bridge and pinochle will be played. A sponsors' dinner will be held Tuesday evening at six thirty o'clock at George's Grotto.
