The Japanese cabinet shift was announced by the Japanese official news agency Domei, as recorded by United States government lis teners, and by the German official news agency DNB'as heard by the United Press in London. Whereas Dome! called the shift merely "a partial reshuffle," DNB called It "far-reaching changes." Domei quoted "political com mentators" as saying that the changes "further bolstered the Japanese war-time political struc ture" in its broadcasts in tele, graphic code, beamed to the Un ited States. ' By coincidence, Japan an nounced that "in order to encour age further increase of production in the steel industry, the govern ment will grant .subsidies to all undertakings in this domain." Transocean said that the Japanese government "desires to assure steel manufacturers a sufficient margin of profit while at the same time maintaining the present price level." 1 " "V s.'JT'gtyt'i 4E TWyy-!g MjWtitI.U(.isy 'VMHaaaaaVty yaHl MORE ITALIAN PRISONERS TAKEN BY TUNISIA YANKS With its palm trees, mountains and sunny atmosphere, this scene might be a Holly wood movie set but It Isn't. (Credit Telephoto) Juniors'Set Play At Elmira High Lenten Thought Mornings and Nights And in the day time he was teaching in the temple and at night he went out. Read Luke 21:37 and 22: 1-6. So Jesus in the little time left Him went on with His work, teaching "as though He were to live forever" there in Jerusalem, faithful to His appointed task aryl conforming to the. Immemorial habit of life, labor and rest. This is the nobler pattern into which the incidents and arguments of His last days fit themselves. He was about His Father's work, he had begun it in the temple and there He would finish it, framed by the days, between mornings and nights. The Controversies were fugitive. His high courage and de votions are our continuing ex ample. In our own times of uncertainty we do best In our appointed places, doing our own proper work con tinuing the habit of life, labor and rest. Chennault, U. S. air force chief in China, warned today that the allies must continue to pour the heat on Japan to prevent exploi tation of conquered areas for war purposes, In his first analysis of the Pa cific situation since becoming com. manaer of tne I4tn u. S. air force, Chennault said the Japanese may try a limited offensive to forestall an allied drive "which they know is coming" but he doubted they plan a major move at this time. He hinted the Japanese may be running short of trained manpow er and materials to cover the broad Pacific and far eastern land and sea fronts. "The pilot here are Inferior to those used a year ago," he said, I "and destroyed equipment is all new." I He revealed Chinese pilots now are flying in combat formation on full operational duty with Amer icans and said they would partici pate in flying missions when the weather permits. "I defy anybody to tell the dif ference between American and Chinese pilots In combat," Chen nault said. Chennault suspected that the their planes. Along with Chennault' report of lessening Japanese strength here, Burma refugees said the Jap anese there were walking now in stead of riding in trucks, indicat ing that allied air attacks on gas oline supplies were having their effect.
