Lewman. .- . Mgue Two Months Ahead )n Red Cross Activity Welfare League members have completed one of their maior projects for the year, making of 1400 ditty bags and , 1400 sewing kits for soldiers under Red Cross quotas two months ahead of schedule. The League took the quota last May to complete the total in d year. In addition to making the 1400 bags and 1400 kits, the members have filled completely 260 of the bags supplying all articles ' 6at go into them. For the remainder of the club year, the League mem- tership willl concentrate its efforts on. making surgical dressings for the Red Cross, the group to meet at the Red Cross rooms Monday and Thureday afternoons of every week.' , Next meeting for the League comes March 5. Engagements and approaching marriages are spot lighted in social news of the week-end, presaging a crowd ed calendar of weddings for the spring and early summer, MU Fox Engaged Announcement is made by Dr. and Mrs. Irvln R. Fox of the betrothal of their daughter, Miss Mary Ann Fox, to Rodney E. Lewman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Z. J. Lewman of ' Eugene. No date is revealed for the wedding. Miss Fox attended the University of Oregon for two years, being a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority on the campus, and this year is com pleting her .nurses' training in Portland under the university course. Mr. Lewman also attended the University and is a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He is now a cadet In training for his commission at the army air force school ' at Ellington Field, Texas. Seeley-Peterson . Told this week-end also Is the engagement of Miss Stephanie French Peterson, daughter of Mrs. Ten Eyck Wendell. Jr. of Cazenovia, New York, and of Curt Peterson of New York city, to Don E. Seeley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Seeley of Salem, The bride-elect is a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. Augustus Peterson of this city and has made her home with them for some time. Both Miss Peterson and Mr. Seeley are students at the ; University of Oregon, the bride-elect being a member of . " week in the Peterson family, Miss Peterson's sister, Miss Janeth Peterson last week telling of her betrothal to Staff Sergeant William D. Keen, the wedding of this couple being arranged for this week. . Miss Taylor Engaged At an Informal dessert party Saturday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Horace H. Taylor announced the engagement of their elder daughter, Miss Mary Kathryn Taylor, to Dale ,' E. Helikson of Camp Barkeley, Texas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Helikson of Eugene. No date was set for the wedding but it is being planned in early April. News of the engagement was told by means of a violet nosegay at each place, the nosegay being fastened with white streamers with tiny purple scrolls bearing the name of the couple tied at the end. Miss Taylor is a graduate of Multnomah training school and the University of Oregon. She is a member of Alpha " Tau Delta, national honorary nursing sorority. Mr. Helik son, who Is now attending officers' candidate school at Camp Barkeley, Texas, is also agraduate of the University : of Oregon and attended law school on the campus, being a member of the PhlAIpha Delta law honorary. Cor dell, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Cordell, also of Eugene, was solemnized February 12 at a nine o'clock morning cere mony in St. Joseph's Catholic church at Wenatchee, Wash, Rev. Father Duffy officiating. ' Attending the wedding from Eugene were Mrs. John . Newman, Mrs. John Cordell, and Miss Shirley Cordellj and another sister of the bridegroom, Miss Betty Cordell, Seattle. Miss Shirley Cordell and Albert Snyder attended tha couple. The bride wore o white satin gown with long train, the dress having long sleeves and a yoke of tulle trimmed In seed pearls. The full length veil of tulle fell from a coronet ' of seed pearls. The bride carried a prayer book on which were arranged two white orchids with streamers. The maid of honor wore a blue dress of faille over marquisette, and her bouquet was of white and pastel blooms, The bride's mother wore a rose crepe dress with navy , accessories, and the bridegroom's mother a dress of aqua blue with gold accessories. Following the church service, a wedding breakfast was "held at the hotel, relatives and the bridal party attending. The couple are home at present at Wenatchee, Mr. 1 Cordell, a reserve In the army air force, completing his basic CPT course. A wedding for this afternoon will be that of Miss Flor ence Anderson and Staff Sergeant Wendell Jensenof the army air forces. The ceremony will be at two-thirty o'clock in Central Presbyterian church, Dr. Norman K. Tully of ficiating. Mrs. Kenneth G. Reeves' of Lebanon, sister of t Sergeant Jensen, will be matron of honor, and Miss Erma Scott of Eugene and Miss Vesta Miller of Marshfleld, bridesmaids. Lieutenant Herbert Anderson of Fort Bennlng, brother of the bride, is to be best man. A reception will be held at Westminster house following the service. Alfred L. Lomax of .the university school of business administration faculty is to be guest speaker, his topis being "Changing Patterns of International Trade." The meeting Is an open one, the public Interested In the subject being Invited. Interesting to many student friends on the campus was . a wedding Friday evening when Miss Roslynn Morrill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Morrill of Honolulu, T. H., was married to Thomas E. Terry, son of Colonel and Mrs. . R. K. Terry of Portland. The ceremony was solemnized at seven-thirty o'clock In the chapel of the First Congrega tional church, Dr. Williston Wirt, church pastor, officiating, and only a small group of relatives and close friends at tending. Miss Eleanor Engdahl of Pendleton and Marlon Cloud of Long Beach, Cal., attended the couple. . The bride wore a slate blue suit with lei of while carna tions. Miss Engdahl wore a dark blue suit with corsage of pink carnations. Following the service at the church, a reception was held In the Eugene hotel mirror room. Both the couple are students at the University of Oregon and will continue their school work, They will be at homa at 1886 University street. The bride, a Junior on the campus, Is a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority, Mr. Terry, a senior, being a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Among those at the wedding were the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John F. Morrill, who came from San Francisco for the ceremony; the bride's grandmother, Mrs. Anita Lloyd of London, England, and the bridegroom's mother, Mrs. R. K. Terry, of Portland; and Miss Violet Winter of London, England. Honoring their grandson, Cadet Robert Deverell, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hykmd entertained at dinner the past week, guests including the honor guest, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Ruth, and Mrs, Eugene Lincoln and children, Wilbur and Tommy, of Grants Pass. Cadet Deverell, who has just completed his pre liminary training at Pasco, Wash., left Friday for further training at Corpus Chrlstl, Texas.
