Topping romantic news this week-end is announce ment by Mr. and Mrs. George Giustina of the engagement of their youngest daughter, Miss Alice Giustina, to Lieu tenant Thomas H. Taylor, son of Dr. and Mrs. Howard R. Taylor of the University. . The wedding will be in the early fall, probably in Sep tember. (Ken-nell-Ellis photo, Wiltshire engraving) Wiltse-Rugh Wedding Held Here Saturday THE marriage of Miss Mar garet Dee Rugh, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Loy all Rugh, to Murray Wiltse of Portland, son of Mrs. Isobel Wiltse of Newport, was solemn ized Saturday afternoon at a small wedding at the Rugh home, Dr. Victor P. Morris of the University of Oregon read ing the service at three o'clock. About twenty-five relatives and close friends were present for the wedding. The ceremony was perform ed in front of the fireplace, which was banked with pink and white gladioluses, burning tapers being arranged in can delabrums on the mantle. The couple was unattended. The bride wore a light blue dress with matching redingote, a matching hat, accessories in navy blue, and a corsage of pink roses and swet peas. For the music, Miss Marjorle Scobert played the piano and Mrs. Charles L. Paine, aunt of the bride, sang "Because." An informal reception fol lowed the service, Miss Phyllis Paine, cousin of the bride, and Misses Opal and Frances Wiltse, sisters of Mr. Wiltse, as sisting. Mr. and Mrs. Wiltse are to make their home in Portland at 621 N. W. 23rd avenue. The bride graduated from the University of Oregon where she is a member of Phi Mu sor ority and of Phi' Beta Kappa, Mu Phi Epsllon, and PI Lambda Theta honoraries. She taught at Newport and Redmond follow ing her graduation. CREDIT WOMEN'S Break fast club is to hold its regular meetinp Tuesday morning at the Del Rey cafe. H. V. Johnson, attorney, is to be guest speaker, discussing parliamentary procedure. Mrs. Orme Given Shower Party Mrs. Douglas Orme (Iva Curtis), a recent bride, was honored at a bridge party and crystal shower for which Mrs. Keith McMilan entertained at her home on Thursday after noon. Guests included Mrs. Orme, Mrs. Harry B. Johnson, Miss Mae Kinsey, Miss Hazel Fish wood, Mrs. Ellsha Large, Mrs. Clifford L. Constance, Miss Katherine Fox, Mrs. Orlando J. Hollis, Mrs. Arthur Warren, Miss Kathryn Mitchell, Miss Gertrude Deierlein, Miss Ola McDermott, Mrs. Glenn Graham, Mrs. Richard Hilles, Miss Clara Blais, Miss Claire Gibson, Miss Carolyn Woods, Mrs. J. F. Cramer, Mrs. Ethel C. Christie, Miss Rita Norris. Honors at cards went to Mrs. Christie, Miss Gibson, and the special prize to Miss Deierlein. VISITORS arriving this week-end were Ensign and Mrs. Raymond E. Kerr, whose marriage was a recent event in Evanston, 111. They are guests of Ensign Kerr's parents, Com mander and Mrs. Raymond E. Kerr. MR. AND MRS. L. J. MUR DOCK, Jr., (Mary Wright) left last week for New York City. Mr. Murdock is an ensign in the United States navy and will attend training school at Fort Schuyler. He was graduated this year from Oregon State college in the school of Indus trial engineering. HONORING William Peltier, technical sergeant in the 186th infantry, medical detachment, who was a visitor here during the mid-week. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Waldorf entertained at dinner on Wednesday evening. Guests included Sergeant Pel tier, Mrs. Martha Peltier, Otho Smith and his mother, Mrs. Smith; Baird Read. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Terry and daughter, Carol. ijj ' v -xv i s" ! v" ! . Attend University Both Miss Giustina and Lieu tenant Taylor are former stu dents at the University of Ore gon. The bride-elect is a mem ber of Delta Gamma sorority and is a member of the Eugene Spinsters club. Lieutenant Tay lor has been in the army air corps the past year, having been at Randolph and Brooks fields, and being stationed now at McChord field in the 85th bombardment squadron. Later in July, Mrs. Giustina is giving a tea honoring her daughter. THE MARRIAGE of Miss Doris Chapman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. N. Chapman, to Gerald Nichols, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Nichols, will be solemnized this afternoon at two-thirty o'clock in the First Baptist church, Dr. C. L. Tra wln officiating. A large group will attend the wedding. HONORING Miss Edith Pearson, who recently an nounced her engagement to Bernard Eric Stain of Portland, Mrs. Keith McMilan and Miss Ella Carrick entertained Fri day evening at a dessert party and miscellaneous shower at the home of Mrs. McMilan. A group of sixteen was invited. ALPHA IOTA is meeting for a business and social gathering Monday evening at eight o'clock at the home of Mrs. Minnie Day, 446 Twelfth ave nue east. The board of directors of the group will meet August 4 in the evening at the home of Mrs. Merton Folts. ALPHA DELTA PI Mothers club is meeting for an all day picnic on Tuesday at the sum mer home of Mrs. Frank Scob ert on the McKenzie. Miss Dean and Dr. Staples Wed The marriage of Miss Phoebe Dean of Medford to Dr. Lloyd Staples of the University of Oregon geology department faculty was solemnized Satur day evening in the Episcopal church at Medford at seven o'clock. Rev. E. S. Bartlam of Eugene officiated. Among guests at the wedding was Dr. Warren D. Smith of the University. The bride graduated this June from the University and is a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. MRS. FLOYD ' Weslerfield returned the past week from Hot Springs, Virginia, where she attended the national con vention of Alpha Delta Pi sor ority. Miss Kathleen Brady, of Al legany, president of the Uni versity chapter of the sorority next year, represented the act ive chapter. Following the con vention the two went to Wash ington, D. C, and Mrs. Wester field also visited with relatives in Iowa. ON FRIDAY, Miss Bertha DeVaney left to spend a week visiting relatives and friends in San Francisco and Oakland, Cal. Miss Sederlin Married July 3 Miss Mildred E. Sederlin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clar ence Sederlin, and Kenneth Randall of Cottage Grove were married the evening of Thurs day, July 3, at a ceremony solemnized at the Sederlin resi dence at eight-thirty o'clock, Rev. Arthur Edwards of the Christian church officiating. A group of twenty-one rela tives and close friends attended the wedding. The home was decorated with pink gladioluses and blue larkspurs. The bride wore a floor length dress of light blue taf feta with matching fingertip veil. Her flowers were a bou quet of sweet peas and Cecil Brunner roses. Mrs. Herbert Sederlin, sister-in-law of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a white lace dress. Willard Randall was best man for his brother. At the reception following, Mrs. Elbert Hixson assisted Mrs. Clarence Sederlin in serv ing, and Mrs. Herbert Sederlin cut the cake. The couple will make their home at Culp Creek.
