Hills Creek, Silverton to Play Sunday The Hills Creek Hillbillies will meet the Silverton Red Sox for the second time within a week Sunday afternoon at Swimmers Delight. The game will be the opener of the second half sched ule and is set for 2:30 p. m. The two teams played their first game Wednesday night at Silverton and the 'Billies were the victims of an 18-2 drubbing. They are thirsty for revenge and are certain to make a better showing in their home park in a day game. The game Wednesday night was the first night game of the season for the 'Billies. Frank Kendall or Bun Kelsay will attempt to quell the left handed batting power of the Red Sox with southpaw pitching. Dick Webb, young right-hander from San Mateo junior college, will be on hand for relief duty. Southpaw Jack Richards will probably take his turn on the mound for Silverton. Zimmerman Trails in Utah Open Golf Meet SALT LAKE CITY, June 28 (U.R) Sid Harman, Walla Walla, Wash., professional, stroked him self into the lead at the halfway mark of the Utah Open golf tournament here late today. Harman conquered the narrow Ft Douglas course in 88 strokes, four under par, to post a two day total of 140. Two strokes be hind was George Schneiter, Ogden, Utah, with 142. The actual deciding run, that counted in the sixth, was produc ed on Bill Dickey's triple and Phil Ruzzuto's single. Rookie Stars for Chicago Two home runs fro mthe usual ly anemic bat of Don Kolloway plunged the Cleveland Indians back into- second place in the American league in a game at Cleveland. The rookie second-baseman staged a one-man show to lead his Chicago mates to an uphill 6-to-4 triumph over the Indians be fore 13,000 ladies' day customers. He not only hit two circuit drives, but also got a single and stole four bases including home In the ninth for Chicago's sixth run. George Mcuuinn belted a tre mendous two-run homer in the tenth inning at Detroit to give the St. Louis Browns a 3-to-l victory over the Detroit Tigers after'Bu'ck Newsom had wild-pitched the ty ing run home in the ninth. McQuinn's drive with Relief Pitcher Jack Kramer on base struck the third deck in right field for what park officials said was the fourth longest homer ever nit into that sector. 'Bama Rowell caught hold of one of Higbe's slants with a mate on base in the sixth inning, knock ed it out of the park and enabled the Braves to come from behind to take a 3-2 decision, ending both Brooklyn's six-game winning streak and Higbe's four-game vic tory run. Stan Benjamin scratched a single to the box with two on and two out in the 12th inning in New York to send a home run home and give the Phillies a 3-to-2 overtime victory over the Giants. The Cincinnati game at St. Louis was postponed because of rain. The Pittsburgh Pirates' inner defense approached two major league records for activity today, but cracked on- two critical plays that allowed the Chicago Cubs a 3-to-2 victory. . This will be one of Londos' few Cullenbine Gains In Batting Race NEW YORK, June 28 P) Long Ted Williams of the Boston Red Sox still is setting opposing pitchers frantic. His batting ave rage today was .411, far and away the best in the major leagues. Pete ' Reiser of the Brooklyn Dodgers continued to lead the National league with .356, but there were no fewer than five batters in the American league above this figure. The week's important hitting development in the latter circuit was the spurt of Roy Cullenbine of the St. Lopis Browns, who inflated his average 23 points to .360. The rise lifted him into third place in the American league, 17 points behind the steady slugging of Cleveland1 Jeff Heath. Overdrive Captures Longacres Inaugural SEATTLE, June 28 (U.R) Long- acres race track opened a 47-day turf card today as Overdrive, owned by Canadian Sportsman W. G. Irvine, took the $1205 inaugural handicap for three-year-olds and up in a new-track record of 1:09 4-5. With Jockey Headley Wood house up, the Canadian entry broke the six-furlongs mark by two-fifths of a second. Campus Fusser finished second and last year's winner and co holder of the track record. Louis Unser Predicts Victory in Hill Race GRAND JUNCTION, Colo., June 28. (U.R) Louis Unser, the man credited with knowing more about Rocky Mountain auto hill climbing than any other person, predicted today that the most ex perienced field he has ever, faced in a "roaring road regatta" would enable him to win the July 4 land's end race in a record time.
