Seasonal Employers To Hold Conference A cftnference for seasonal em ployers of the Eugene district will be held with representatives of the state unemployment compen sation commission at the Eugene hotel beginning at 9:30 Monday morning, June IS, it was announ ced by George Belloni of the state employment office in Eugene. Prospective seasonal employers operating in Lane and Douglas counties have been asked to at tend the meeting, which will be devoted to an explanation of the seasonality law passed by the 1941 Legislature. Other interested em ployers are invited to attend. The case was entitled Mrs. Oscar Hansbn against J. O. Olsen. The jurors were H. C. Auld, Otto Gilstrap, Hattie Gross, L. L. West fall, Bryant De Bar and Charles Letson. Wednesday the ladies met for their regular meeting and quilt ing. Committees were appointed and arrangements made for the fes tival. A quilt was taken from the frames for Mrs. Joe Hart of Cedar Flat and others are in to be work ed upon. Mr. and Mrs. Cadell entertained the Thurston social club last week and Friday evening June 13 Mr. and Mrs. Fred Russell will be hosts of the club. Hay baling was held up Thurs day in the Thurston vicinity due to the thunderstorm and rain. Lightning hovered about the Thurston vicinity at regular in tervals Wednesday evening and five miles south at Jasper a house was struck and burned to the ground. At Thurston a tree was reported struck in the vicinity of the new highway south of the village.
