New York Markets By VICTOR EUBANK NEW YORK, My 21 (API Th rtoek market extended Its gains today as a group of oil shares went Into new 1941 hfffhs and many other leading Is sues followed the upward trend. About 553.000 shares changed hands. Operations centered largely on the petroleum shares because of the earn ings prospects occasioned by predictions of eastern seaboard gasoline shortages with attendant price Increases, already being reflected In crude and refined markets. Reaching new top quotations for the year were Consolidated OU. Ohio OH, Standard Oil of Ohio and Mid-Continent Petroleum. Other Issues on the upgrade were Sav age Arms, Allis Chalmers. DuPont. American Can, Dow Chemical, United Aircraft. J. I. case. Montgomery Ward. Chrysler, Mack Truck, Phelps Dodge. Reynolds Metal and American Tele phone. The last named rose more than a point at one time as directors announc ed a funding program of $234,000,000, largely to be used for expansion. Honas experienced moderate lifts. AlrRed 30,i.
