SMpwutUk Patriotic Theme To Feature Ball The patriotic theme will fea ture the decorations for the charity ball to be given Satur day evening. October 26, by the Welfare League. The party will be at the downtown Masonic temple. Be sides dancing, there will be bridge, and late in the evening a supper will be served. All committees have been named and are busy with de tails for the event. Mrs. Claire Kneeland is general chairman. Half the proceeds go to war re lief the other half for philan thropic projects. AssemDiy w"ul" Assembly club members are to gather at the Osburn hotel for their dance. Mr. and Mrs John Bushman, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford R. Manerud, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin F. Schulz, and Dr. and Mrs. R. C. Romig are in charge. Mr. Bushman, Mr. Manerud, Mrs. Schulz, and Mrs. Romig being officers of the club. Kotillion at Eugene The Kotillion dance is plan ned at the Eugene hotel, danc ing starting at nine o'clock. This is the first of the season's seven dances. Herschel Davis orchestra is to play. All dances arc semi-formal. The retiring and incoming of ficers are in charge, including: Clarence A. Chase, president for the past year; Guy Wright, re tiring vice president: and Mrs. Viron Moore, the retiring secretary-treasurer; T. C. Luckey, Jr., president for the new year; Robert Phillips, vice president, and Mrs. Ralph A. Kindler, sec retary. The schedule for the Kotil lion dances of the 1940-1941 season is as follows: Saturday, October 19, at Eugene hotel; Tuesday, November 19, at The Holland; Saturday, December 21, at the Eugene hotel; Satur day, February 15, at the Eugene hotel; Tuesday, March 18, at The Holland; Tuesday, April 15, at The Holland; Tuesday, May 20, picnic dance. All dancing on Tuesday nights will be from eight-thirty to eleven-thirty o'clock and the Saturday night dancing will be from nine to twelve. On the Campus Dances announced on the campus for next week-end in clude: Theta Chi and Delta Tau Delta, both on Friday evening; Beta Theta Pi, Sigma Nu, Pi Kappa Alpha, and Pi Beta Phi, all on Saturday evening. Another event of interest on the campus calendar will be the drama department's pres entation of "Touchwood" Fri day and Saturday evenings. BONNE HEURE dance club is holding another of IU parties this Thursday evening, October 17, in St. Mary's Episcopal church parish hall at nine o'clock. Ladies attending are to take sandwiches. THE WEEKLY golf day for women of the Country club will be Wednesday, luncheon at noon, golf at twelve-thirty o'clock. THE MARRIAGE of Miss Wilma Forncrook, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Tbe couple will be at home it Miss Strickler Bride Thursday A wedding of interest Thurs day evening was solemnized at ' the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority on the campus when Miss Charlotte Strickler. daughter of Mrs. M. M. Strickler.' was married to George D. Lesley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Montie Lesley. The ceremony, performed by Dr. Victor P. Morris of the University of Oregon, took place before the fireplace which was arranged with white, orchid, and pink chrysanthe mums and dahlias in large urns at either side, and with candel abrums with lighted tapers. For the music, Miss Neva Barber played trie harp and Miss Geraldine Walker the piano. Wears White Satin The bride was charming in white brocaded satin, the dress being made floor length. The veil of silk net was fingertip length and was arranged from a cap trimmed with ruching and wreathed with orange blos soms. For her flowers the bride carried an arm bouquet of gar denias and pink rosebuds. Miss Jean Boggs was maid of honor. She wore a dress in or chid tones and her flowers were a corsage of gardenias and rosebuds. Robert Beckley attended the bridegroom. Following the service a re ception was held. About sev enty guests were present for the wedding and reception. Mrs. Strickler and Miss Peggy Jane Peebler presided at the serving table. Assisting with the serving were the members of the sorority, Mr. and Mrs. Lesley are to make their home in Eugene. HOSTESS on Thursday af ternoon was Mrs. Elisha Large who entertained at her home for dessert and two tables of bridge. Stevenson, the event to honor Portland and out-of-town mothers who are coming for the meeting. Miss Plinsky Married Friday St. Mary's Catholic church was scene of a wedding Friday morning when Miss Mary Frances Plinsky, eldest daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. ' Frank Plinsky, was married to Joseph Carroll, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Carroll. The service took place at nine o'clock, Rev. Francis P. Leipzig officiating. For the music, Mrs. J. Austin Frey played the organ and Dale Cooley sang. The bride was attractive in a suit of military blue, worn with brown accessories and a cor sage of Talisman rosebuds and gardenias. Miss Bette Plinsky attended her sister. She wore a wine col ored dress with dark blue hat and a corsage of rosebuds. Lawrence Carroll was best man for his brother. Following the church service an informal reception for rela tives and a few close friends was held at the Plinsky resi dence. Mrs. Lee Claska and Mrs. J. E. Stevens presided at the serving table.
