Mr. Hugus will go to work there in a few days. Begin Play Practice WALTERVILLE, Jan. 20 (Spe cial) The play "Marry by Mid night," which is being produced by the. Waltcrville P.-T. A., is un der way for practicing. The characters have been chosen and the parts they will take are Ir ving Mobley, Mrs. Irving Mobley, Catliryn Zehner, Don Ebbert, Mrs. Joe Zehner, Mr. Hennebeck, George Easton, Douglas Zabriskie, Mrs. Harper, Mrs. Lane Smith, Harry Moore, Laurel Edith Wil lian, Practices are held once or twice a week and the play is to be presented February 16. TRENT NEWS TRENT. Jan. 20. (Special) Mis. Dick Maltzan is at her home here now after several weeks in the hospital with a broken hip. She is improving and will soon be up part of the time. Church night was held recently with a good attendance. After a potluck supper, games were play ed. (Spe cial) Elm Rebekah lodge met in regular session last week. Mrs. Templeman served as conductor in the absence of that officer and Mrs. Stonebraker and Mi's. Eshem as the guardians. James Walker of the Oak lodge of I. O. O. F. was present and invited, all the Re bekahs to attend a social after the Odd Fellows meeting on Thursday evening. A program and refresh ments were promised. The officers' entrance march was practiced. Mrs, Eshom was appointed on the finance committee to take the place of Mrs. Orr. The memlsers voted to buy a bond in the L O, O. T. buildup. CLUBS PLAN PROGRAM DEERHORN, Jan. 20. (Spe cial) The Betsy Ross sewing club and the Delicious Dishes cooking club made plans at their joint meeting for a social to raise funds for club expenses. The affair will be held the middle of March and will consist of a free program, an amateur hour, with an auction of baskets filled with supper at the close of the evening. As a special activity the girls filled out wild life questionaires at the request of Ihe fish and game department to assist them in a survey which deals largely with the domestic cat. The business meeting was in charge of Louise Knox, president of the cooking club. The Four-H club pledge and songs were fea tured and each girl worked on her project. The first division girls wove yarn inlo monk's cloth and the third division girls worked on their school dresses. Girls who attended the meeting were Louise Knox. Glenda Smith, Stella Cole man. (Special) At the meeting of Col tage Grove Lions club last week, E. F. Wann, brother of Mrs. Har old Axley, who is visiting here from Alaska, was guest speaker in place of H. J. Cox, who was unable to be present. Mr. Wann gave a talk on Alaska dwelling particularly on the min ing industry in that country. (Special) Orlo Bagley of the Daugherty Lumber Company of fice force, underwent a major operation Thursday in Portland at St. Vincent hospital. The opera tion was for a blood clot on the brain and so far is said to be suc cessful unless complications de velop. W. H. Daugherty returned home from Portland following the operation and reports that the operation seemed to be favorable. Mr. Bagley was formerly football coach of the Cottage Grove high school. Mrs. Jack Randall is lead ing a cooking club, Mrs. Bessie Lakoy is leading a sewing club, Gene Lakey is organizing a camp cookery club. There is a possibil ity of a woodworking, forestry and possibly a livestock club being or ganized if leaders can be found tor these. Several clubs were formed earlier in the year,- and are being led by teachers.
