HARRISBIRG NEWS HAHR1SBURG, Dec. 21. (Spe Si-At the last meeting of the .iies' Auxiliary, the following trs were elected to serve dur : 1940: president, Mrs. F. J. :neter; vice-president, Mrs. Minnie Mclvin; secretary, Mrs. M. E. Rush; treasurer. Mrs. Lloyd Simon. The new officers will be installed the first meeting in Jan uary. On this date there will be a potluck dinner for members of the chamber of commerce and ladies' auxiliary, their wives and hus bands. The committee in charge of the dinner is Mrs. Ina Kirsch man, Mrs. C. A. Gilbert and Mrs. J. J. Cramer. Mr, and Mrs. George Scott were guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. W, Moore at a dinner recently. The occa sion was the 34th wedding anni versary of the Scotts. Mr, and Mrs. J. A. Hoard started Wednesday by auto for LaVerne. California, where they will spend the holidays with their daughter, Mrs. Luther Wright and family. Another daughter, from New Mex ico, will join them there. Program Held YONCALLA, Dec. 21. (Spe cial) A community Christmas1 tree and program with gifts and treats for everyone was enjoyed at the Elkhead achoolhouse this week. The program consisted of group singing; violin and piano duet by Delmar Record and Mrs. J. H, Wittmeyer; harmonica and guitar solo, Paul Allen; readings, J. C. Pringle, Mrs. Frank Creson, Ben Creson, Merlin Johnson and Freda Job and Laura Jobe. Re freshments were served at the close of the evening. COTTAGE GROVE NEWS COTTAGE GROVE, Dec. 21. (Special) The Rainbow assembly met recently and had its Christmas party. Each brought toys to be sent to the Shrine hospital in Port land. Plans were made at the meeting for the dancing party to be held Dec. 28. The Cottage Grove high school class of 1935 is planning a reunion on the evening of Dee. 29, at Row River Inn. Dec. 21 (Special) The Lee Hayes family have rented the Nettie Spencer house and will move soon from the former Grant Taylor house where they have re sided for some time. The Mountain States Power j company cut the large fir tree in front of the Mrs. Ernestine Mun ger house one day last week. Dr. Dan V. Poling, high school visitor for the state system of higher education visited the local school Monday morning. He talk ed briefly to all students but par ticularly to the members of the senior class. (Special) Goldson grange met at the halt recently with 22 members present An enchange of Christmas gifts was held among the members with a program put on by all present. It was decided to have a New Year's eve dance at the hall. A committee was appointed to make all needed arrangements for the dance. It was also decided to meet at the hall to work on the hall roof, which has been leaking bad ly, A potluck dinner was held at noon, also a potluck supper was held Friday night at the grange meeting. It is reported that Mrs. Effie Cox is improving. She has been in bed most of the time for al most 11 weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Hansen, Mrs. Pearl Brown, Hardy Cox and son Dan, Henry Landers and Mrs. Ross Reid all assisted Mrs. Stella Powell pick turkeys at her place recently. Mr. Phouts and Mrs. Mary Herbert and children helped a while in the evening. Mrs. Eftic Cox and son Doran were cooks and dish washers. Mt. Carmel school is putting on a Christmas program at the grange hail Friday night, with a tree. HOLD CHRISTMAS MEETING HARRISBURG, Dec. 81, (Spe cial) The Harrisburg Commun ity Garden club gave ite Christ mas party recently at the home of Mrs. l J. Scholi. A potluck din ner was served at noon at which 20 members were present. There was a Christmas tree and an ex chang of gifts. Mrs. C. M. Stone, president of the club, was pre sented with a special gift from the club members. A short business meeting was held and it was de cided to resume work on baskets which hud been put aside because of the busy season. The next meet ing will be held January 9. at the home of Mrs. Stone, with Mrs. Ross and Mrs. Moore as hostesses. Present at the Christmas meet ing were Mesdames M. E. Rush, Calvin Owens, J. J.
