(Special) A congregational meet ing of the Presbyterian church is called for December 5, at 7:30. The meeting is in reference to call for a pastor. Dr. Norman K. Tully will be moderator for the meeting. Rev. E. F. McFarland preached a Thanksgiving sermon Sunday morning. His subject was "The Right Spirit of Thanksgiving Unto God." The choir sang a special number. There will be a meeting of the elders and trustees of the church Wednesday evening. and also adds that no reduction in rates should be expected. Mr. Lemley has opened offices in his building at 511 Main street and will devote his time toward the purposes of this new association. Officers Re-Elected By Goldson Grange GOLDSON, Nov. 2!. (Special) Goldson grange met at the hall recently with 16 members pres ent. Six applications for member ship were received. A potluck sup per was held with the H. E. Games were played after the din ner hour. AT REEDSPORT REEDSPORT, Nov. 21 (Spe cial) One hundred persons at tended the dinner given recently by the Reedsport-Gardiner Town- send club No. 1 in the I. O. O. F. ' hall. The committee preparing the ' dinner consisted of Mrs. Mae Pier-! pont, Mrs. Elizabeth Jenkins. Mrs. ! Luther Judy, Mrs. Mary Marplei and Mrs. Jack Holt. The regular j meeting of the club was held fol-; lowing the dinner at which time plans for a Townsend club birth day dance to be held on December 0 were discussed. Election of offi cers for the coming year will take place at the next meeting, to be held on December 13. The American Legion and its auxiliary gave a no host dinner dance in the American Legion hall. About 70 attended. John Barney, pastor of Christian church at Roscburg, was guest speaker and several songs were sung around the table. Leaburg Aid Busy; Bazaar Planned For Evening Of Dec. 1 , LEABURG, Nov. 21 (Special) The Leaburg Ladies' Aid held its regular meeting at the home of Mrs. Sim Swnfford last week. The business meeting was pre sided over lv the president, Mrs Earl Middleton. Roll call was an swered with "Thanksgiving! Thoughts." Reports of various! committees were heard and final; plans completed for the Iwaarj which will be held on Dec. 1. Serving will begin at 6 o'clock and continue until all arc served. I ho supper is to be served cafeteria style. Following the supper a program will be presented under the di rection of Mrs. Marion Elston and Mrs. Milo Smith. Pauline Smith and Dorothy Elston will have charge of the candy booth and ladies of the Aid will have charge of the sewing booths. The general public is cordially invited to be present. The Aid sponsored a social eve ning on Friday evening at the gymnasium. Games were played and refreshments served at a late hour. Thirty-five members and friends were present. Christmas Meeting Planned By Club CLOVERPAI.E, Nov. 21 (Spe rial) The postponed meeting of the Clovertlalo club was held re cently at the h.ill with Mrs. P. K Riuehirt and Mi. K. K, Huberts as hostesses. A potluck dinner at noon was followed by n short business meeting at which Kiances Parks presided. Plans were made for the Christmas meeting. Pec. 14. with Mrs. A. V. Uartrl and Mrs. Harold Patton in charge of entertainment and Mrs. Wilbur Scott and Mrs. Marvin Tcvepaugh, of refreshments, The next regu lar meeting will have Mrs. It. K. I Thurston To Hold Firsl Homecoming THURSTON, Nov. 21. (Spe cial) Thurston high school will stage its first homecoming Friday night, Nov. 24, beginning at 7:30 oVlock. (Special) The Methodist Ladies' Aid met at the church last week for a sil ver tea. A business meeting was conducted by the president, Mrs. Delk, and devotions were led by Mrs. Sumner. Committees were appointed for the bazaar to be held at the Civic club rooms, Dec. 2. Refreshments were served by the hostesses, Mesdames Howarth and Bragg. Members present, Mes dames Lovett, Roberts, Sumner, Spalding, Applegate. Austen, Cramer. Delk, Howarth, Bragg and Trueblood. Disrrss power project MOHAWK. Nov. 21. (Special) Mohawk-.M c K e n z i e grange members met in regular session at the grange hall recently. During the business meeting the Bonne ville power project was discussed. The following committee was ap pointed by the grange: Lee Seavey, Bert Edgell and Herbert Brown. During the lecturer's hour a read ing was given by Mrs. Beneta Combs and Lydia Edge!!. Anderson this week sold to C. E. Miles of Monroe the property and fixtures of his meal market on Smith street. Mr. Miles has gone on a trip to California but will return and take possession about December 1.
