Presbyterians Plan
Special Meeting
To Choose Pastor
COTTAGE GROVE, Nov. 21.
(Special) A congregational meet
ing of the Presbyterian church is
called for December 5, at 7:30. The
meeting is in reference to call for
a pastor. Dr. Norman K. Tully will
be moderator for the meeting.
Rev. E. F. McFarland preached
a Thanksgiving sermon Sunday
morning. His subject was "The
Right Spirit of Thanksgiving Unto
God." The choir sang a special
number. There will be a meeting
of the elders and trustees of the
church Wednesday evening.

Mr. Lemley has opened offices
in his building at 511 Main street
and will devote his time toward
the purposes of this new association.

tended the dinner given recently
by the Reedsport-Gardiner Town-
send club No. 1 in the I. O. O. F. '

The American Legion and its
auxiliary gave a no host dinner
dance in the American Legion hall.

The Aid will hold its annual
bazaar and chicken supper on
Friday evening. Dec. 1. Serving
will begin at 6 o'clock and continue
until all arc served. I ho supper
is to be served cafeteria style.
Following the supper a program
will be presented under the di
rection of Mrs. Marion Elston and
Mrs. Milo Smith. Pauline Smith
and Dorothy Elston will have
charge of the candy booth and
ladies of the Aid will have charge
of the sewing booths. The general
public is cordially invited to be
present.
The Aid sponsored a social eve
ning on Friday evening at the
gymnasium. Games were played
and refreshments served at a late
hour. Thirty-five members and
friends were present.

Firsl Homecoming

stage its first homecoming Friday
night, Nov. 24, beginning at 7:30
oVlock. Springfield high school
student body is coming out and
bringing two basketball teams.
There will also be games and danc

The Methodist Ladies' Aid met
at the church last week for a sil
ver tea. A business meeting was
conducted by the president, Mrs.
Delk, and devotions were led by
Mrs. Sumner. Committees were
appointed for the bazaar to be held
at the Civic club rooms, Dec. 2.
Refreshments were served by the
hostesses, Mesdames Howarth and
Bragg. Members present, Mes
dames Lovett, Roberts, Sumner,
Spalding, Applegate. Austen,
Cramer. Delk, Howarth, Bragg and
Trueblood.

Mohawk-.M c K e n z i e grange
members met in regular session at
the grange hall recently. During
the business meeting the Bonne
ville power project was discussed.
The following committee was ap
pointed by the grange: Lee Seavey,
Bert Edgell and Herbert Brown.
During the lecturer's hour a read
ing was given by Mrs. Beneta
Combs and Lydia Edge!!. Plans
were made for a penny supper and
party to be given at the grange
hall Saturday evening, Dec. 2.

sold to C. E. Miles of Monroe the
property and fixtures of his meal
market on Smith street. Mr. Miles
has gone on a trip to California
but will return and take possession
about December 1. Mr. and Mrs.
Will Smith, who have been oper
ating the shop for a few months,
will look for a new location.
The Home Economics club of
the hinh school sponsored a shower
and farewell party for Myrtle Nix
on, who is to be married on De
