Dr. Pearce gave the address of the evening, discussing the pro gram, aims, and achievements of Zonta clubs, women's classified service organizations, throughout the United States and other coun tries. She also presided at the installation service which closed the meeting. Installation Held Installation was held for: Presi dent, Mrs. Robert M. Fischer, Jr.; first vice-president, Mrs. Russell D. Evans; second vice-president, Miss Irene Ritchie; Mrs. Fanny Mar- latte, secretary; Mrs. Elizabeth Ro mane, treasurer; Mrs. W. H. Hodes, Mrs. Delia Borin, Mrs. Harry Veach, board members. A jewelled past president's pin was presented Mrs. Turnipseed. The tables were unusually beau tifully decorated with large low bouquets of white and pale pink peonies, burning pastel colored candles being set in among the blooms, while the main center piece was a combination of snap dragons and lupin in rose, orchid, and similar shades. At the con clusion of the banquet a large bouquet from each of the men's service clubs in the city, Kiwanis, Rotary, Lions, and Active, was presented the new Zonta president. Guests attending the meeting in cluded: Dr. Pearce, Miss Dorothy Pearce, Miss Hazel Cook, Miss Lil lian McDonald (president). Miss Helen Yockey, Miss Mabel Savage, Mrs. Edna Hunt, all from Salem: Miss Mary C. Campbell, secretary of the Portland club, and from Eu gene, Mrs. Elisha Large, Mrs. Clif ford L. The next meeting of the club i will be a luncheon gathering on Friday, June 2. 50-Year Women To Be Honored By MARIAN LOWRY DLANS and committee chairmen for the annual meeting and breakfast of the State Association of University Women for Satur day, June 3, were announced this week by Mrs. Alberta S. McMur phey, president. This event, a tradition for many years in connection with the Uni versity of Oregon commencement, will be held at the Osbum hotel at eight-thirty o'clock in the morning on that date. Reservations for the affair should be made direct to the ho tel, telephone 891. Fifty Year Women Honor guests for the breakfast will be the two fifty-year class women, Mrs. Charles A. Miss Armstrong Is Honored at Shower Miss Rhoda Armstrong, bride elect of Rod Speetzen, was honor guest at a surprise shower given by Miss Alberta Roberts on Mon day evening. Guests included Miss Armstrong, Miss Roberta Marshall, Miss Betty Sethcr, Miss Barbara Roome, Miss Sue Nagle, Miss Jean Nagle, Miss Marian Morse, Miss Janet Hall, Miss Elizabeth Ann De Busk, Miss Brandon Young. 10 UHS Senior Girls 'Honored At Banquet TEN University high school senior girls were honored especially at the Girls League's annual mother and daughter banquet, Fri day evening, each of the ten being presented with a gold pin for out standing service rendered the league during her three years at the school. Those receiving the pins were: Misses Mary Ann Fox, Susan Huf faker, Florence Jackson, Ruby Jackson, Louise Hering, Eleanor Scott, Patricia Stanard, Abbie Jane White, Conchey Uquiri, and Billie Hearne. Ninety attended the banquet, held at Gerlinger hall on the uni versity campus. Mis Hearne, re tiring league president, presided. Miss Suzanne Stickels, incoming president of the league, gave the response. Miss Uquiri presented the ten gold pins. New officers were installed for the coming year. They include: Miss Stickels, president; Miss Doris Helen Rayburn, vice-president; Miss Betty Russell, secretary; Miss Doris Jones, treasurer; Miss Louise Murphy, social chairman. For the program, Miss White played piano numbers; Miss Vir ginia Sallee sang; and Miss Joyce Clark played piano solos. Doty Scholarship Is Awarded Miss Hunt Miss Lorraine Hunt, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Charles E. Hunt, has received word from New York university that she has been awarded a one-year scholarship in merchandising leading to a mast er's degree at the end of one year of study. The scholarship includes graduate study and practical busi ness experience in the largest re tail stores in New York. Miss Hunt is a senior in business administra tion at the University of Oregon and a member of Sigma Kappa sorority, of which she has been president for the past year. She will leave for New York next fall. P.-T. A. Both Miss Moore and Mr. McPherson are graduates of Springfield high school.
