Newlyweds Here Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Purcell of Boise, Idaho, arrived in Eugene Thursday evening to visit a day or so at the homes of Mr. Purcell's uncles, John and Lawrence Jen sen, and his aunt, Mrs. Horace Burnett. They were married in Boise Sunday. Equipment Kept Busy. Thursday proved a busy day for Eugene's fire department. First alarm was from 1490 Moss street where an overheated flue ignited the roof. Considerable damage re sulted from the flames, which were reported at 5:15 p. m. Second call was from 258 Fifth avenue west at 7:06 p. m. where a flue burned out. Third call was from 576 Washington street at 8:13 p. m. where another flue burned out. The Oregon Feed and Seed com pany also reported the theft of 10 50-eallon drums. Deputy Assessor Finishes Riley Petty, deputy assessor for the Creswell district and vicinity, has completed his work for the sea son and turned in his supplies at the office of Assessor Stevens Friday. Rehearsals Set The Women's Choral club will have a rehearsal Friday evening at the Central Presbyterian church chapel. On Sunday afternoon the group will meet for rehearsal at 4 o'clock in the campus school of music building. The club's concert will be Monday evening at the school of music. Trailer Stolen Phi Kappa PsI fraternity re ported that a two-wheel trailer had been stolen from them while preparing for the canoe fete last weekend. Steel Drums Stolen G. B. James William Snyder James William Snyder, 47, died at the Eugene hospital Thursday afternoon after an illness of sev eral months. He was born April 11, 1891, at Hutchinson, Kan., and married Florence Dawson in Kansas. The family hns lived in the Jeans district near Eugene for the past 10 years. Mr. Snyder is survived by his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Churles Blazer of Creswell, Mrs. Alvin Belcher of Cheshire; and Max ine Snyder, at home; six sons, Jesse, Elbert, Clifford, Lawrence, Lee and Robert, all at home; three grandchildren: two brothers, Edward and Samuel Taylor, both of Hutchinson. Kas.; and two sis ters, Mrs. William Demoret, Hut chinson, Kas., and Mrs. Lewis Graf, Houghton, S. D. Mr. Snyder was a member of the Christian church. Benjamin Franklin Morris COTTAGE GROVE. May 13. (Special) Benjamin Franklin Morris, 86, died at his home at 41 North P street Wednesday eve ning. Mrs. Morris died about a year ago. Mr. Morris was born Dec. 8, 1851. in Grayson county, Kentucky. He was married at the age of 21 years to Anna McDaniel in Kentucky. He is survived by three children, Mrs. Stella David son, Eugene; Mrs. Blosoom Smith, Butte Falls, Ore.; O. D. Morris, Eu gene; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Mr. : Morris has resided in Cottage , Grove 17 years, coming from Butte ' Falls, and has been a resident of Oregon the past 28 years. He came i to Oregon from Bassctt, Neb.
