Mr. Slattery was chosen as city attorney and Hnrry Eccleston was appointed as marshnl. Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Butler of Elk ton, and grandson, who visited their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. A. Monson several days return ed home Tuesday. They were enroute home from California where they had visited relatives. A marriage license was issued Mon day at Roseburg to Roy Cellars of Myrtle Creek and Anry .Miller ov Drain. 0. S. Faunce of Eugene was in town Monday. Work was started on the new school building this week. Mr. Ste vens, the contractor, supervised the staking of the plans. Mr. Hedlund, the government inspector is also here. Mr. and Mrs. Rupert Gilbert and daughter, Mary Lynn left Sunday for North Bend where Mrs. Gilbert will stay to be close to Mr. Gilbert, who Is captain of Coos Head CCC camp. Alvadore Thursday Club Has Meeting ALVADORE. Jan. 12. (Specia'.) The Thursday club held its regular meeting at the home of Mrs. F. Good man. Guests were Mrs. BODert uoou man of Eugene, Mrs. Darwin Goodman and Miss Doris Haley. Members in attendance were Mrs. D. W. bnafer, Mrs. F. C. Sanborn, Mrs. A. Bailey, Mrs. M. Hill, Mrs. J. A. Adkins, Mrs. E. P. Saunders, Mrs. W. O. HaU, Mrs. E. P. Hanson, Mrs. A. H. Haley, Mrs E. Webster and the hostess, Mrs. Goodman. Delicious refresh ments were served, the hostess being assisted by Mrs. Robert Goodman and Mrs. Darwin Goodman. Mrs. J. A. Adkins will entertain the club on Jan. 24. This will be the annual luncheon and it is hoped all members will be present. Mr. and Mrs. Floyice Haynes and little daughter came from Erick, Okla., a few days ago for a yisit with Mrs. Haynes' uncle, H. P. Frost, They expect to remain here for some time. Mrs. 0. A. Drew was called to Port land on account of the death of her mother, Mrs. Gillespie, whose home was in Portland. Evangelistic services, conducted by Herbert W. Armstrong, will be re sumed Sunday evening, and will be continued twice each week, on Sunday and Thursday evenings. Bell fountain News COMING TO VALLEY PLANT SOON! BELLFOUNTAIN, Jan. 12. (Spe cial) John White returned home Monday evening from a trip to St, Louis to visit a son. He returned by way of Texas and California. He started to work again Tuesday morn' ing as engineer at the W. J. Miller mill and had only worked a short time when he slipped and fell, suffer' ing a badly broken arm and severely lacerated scalp. His arm was broken in several places as it was caught in the flywheel of the machinery. He was alone at the time of the accident and was unable to make anyone hear, so he made his way around the ma chinery and blew the whistle for help. He was taken to the Corvallis hospital where he is convalescing. The quilting club met at the W. O. W. ball Wednesday for an all day meeting and worked on quilts for Mrs. F. A. N'usbaum and Miss Edith Lar kin. A potlnck luncheon was enjoyed at the noon hour. Another all day meeting Is planned for Thursday, Jan, 17. Those, attending were Mrs. J. V. Byrne place, which has been released by Mr. Feaster. Parchment is being made from sheepskin in England by the some methods and tools used more than 1000 years ago. Goshen Grange To Visit Walterville GOSHEN, Jan. 12. (Special) Tuesday, January IK, Goshen grange will visit Walterville to give the program and show their seating drill. Junction City visited Goshen Wed nesday, January 9. A program was put on and the officers took over the chairs. On New Year's day, and the day after, the Goshen grangers met at the grange hall for work. The men turned specialists and also built a fire escape, while the women paint ed, calsomined, and cleaned. The Home Economics club will meet at the hall on Thursday, Jan uary 17, for quilting. The last meeting was also at the hall with the new chairman, Mary Pontius, aa president, January 2? has been chosen as the evening for Goshen grange's next entertainment. The three plays to be presented are, "The Dressing Gown,' "Too Much Consideration,' and "The Red Irfimps." The unmarried men and boys are to be on the refreshment com mittee for next time. Floyd McBee is the chairman of the group; the others on it are Cleve Laurence, Al Hoffman, Howard Lindley, Ro bert Petetit, Merlin Copenhaver, and Glenn Dilley.
