These improvements have been in cluded in all the well known makes and Eugene dealere will be conduct ing apecial demonstrations and exhi bitions of the new innovations in re frigerators during July. Following are suggestions that may be followed out with electric refrigeration: Data Nut Refrigerator Cake lb. graham crackers 1 cup dates, chopped 1 cup thick aweet cream . 1 cup marshmallows, cut into bits 1 cup nutmeata, chopped 4 teaspoon salt. Crumb crackera rather fine, add other ingredients, cream last and mix thoroughly until cracker crumbs are all moistened. Pack into square tin or mold lined with waxed paper and let atand in electric refrigerator 12 hours. Slice and serve with or with out whipped cream. Tuaa Flih Salad 1 tablespoon gelatin 2 tablespoons cold water 2 cupa tuna fish V4 cup chopped celery 4 cup pickle relish teaapoon salt 4 teaspoon paprika cup mayonnaise dressing 1. Soak gelatin In cold water fire minutes and disaolve over boiling water, 2. Flake the tuna fish in pieces, add the celery, relish, salt, paprika, and mayonnaise. S. Add the dissolved gelatin, mix well and put Into individual molds (or one large mold) which have been dipped in cold water. 4. Place In electric refriger ator to chill nntil ready to nerve. S. Serve in nests of lettuce and garnish with celery curia and rlnga of green pepper. Peppermint toe Cream W pound red and white peppermint atirka 2 cupa milk l'cup whipping cream 1 tablespoon gelatin 2 tablespoons cold water Soak gelatin In cold water. Scald milk and dissolve peppermint sticks. Add gelntln. Cook until it thickens and then whip until fluffy. Whip cream stiff nnd fold into peppermint mix ture. Freeze in tray about 5 hours. Oate Cookies , 2 egga 1 cup butter 2 cups brown sugar 1 teaspoon salt 1 cup nntmeats 1 cup datee 3H cupa flour 1 teaspoon aoda Cream the butter and augar and add the well beaten eggs. Mix well. Add the nuts and dntea which have been put through the food chopper and then the flour mixed and sifted with 'the salt and sods. One teaspoon of vanilla may be added if desired. Toss on a floured board and form Into three long rolls. These rolls should be a little smaller than the de alred aiie of the cookies. Wrap in oiled paper and atore in electric re frigerator. To bake, slice thin and bake in hot oven (875 degrees) about ten minutes. Makes about 8 dozen small cookies. Iced Chocolate 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup 1 glass milk Have milk end ayrup thoroughly ! rnmea ana acta syrup to glsss of milk and stir until thoroughly blend ed. . Pineapple Panch 1 heaping tablespoon crushed pine apple 2 maraschino cherries 1-3 cup foundation punch 1-3 cup ginger ale . 2 Ice cubes. . Combine all Ingredients In tall Blase. ' HOBBll An Interesting story of success and growth of a local manufacturer is that of the . J. O. Olsen Manufacturing company, manufacturers of commer cial refrigerators. The J. O. Olsen Manufacturing company commenced business in March, 1924, building trailers and slip-on bodies for the Simmons Auto compsny. Later in this year more machinery was purchased and larger buildings were erected and general mill work manufacture was begun. The first contract for mill work was on the residence being erected by Soren Jensen, contractor," on Madison street. Since that time many large and beautiful homes, apartment houses and buildings have been furnished with quality mill work. In addition to mill work the J. O. Olsen Manufacturing company hare manufactured hundreds of freezer cases and cold storage rooms, that have been shipped to every part of Oregon, Including Portland. In 1028 they purchased from Hulda McClanahan the business and equip ment known aa the McClanahan I cubator company. This plant was later dismantled and moved to the preseut factory, which at that time was enlarged for this added machin ery. In July, 19.12. they became the commercial Frigidalre dealer for Lane county, with offices and sales rooms st 787 Willamette street, Eugene. This made it poible to equip all cases and coolers manufactured in the plant with the best of refrigera tion machinery obtainable anywhere, giving their many customers a service not obtainable from out-of-state firms. In addition to the products men tioned, the company also make hop baskets and incubators. Associated with J. O. Olsen are hie two sons, E. M. and R. A. Olsen. E. M. Olsen has charge of the manu facturing, and R. A. Olsen has charge of the refrigeration, sheet metal and paint departments. At the downtown store a full line of household Frlgidaires are carried.
