' Fire In Yard Tbe city fire department answered call shortly after 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon to put out a fire in tb Copeland lumber yards. A cigarette, dropped .in- the sawdust, caused- tbe blaze. No damage was done, the fire just getting flared up well by the time the fire engine arrived. Car Owner Fined $10 F. R. McAlister was fined $10 by R, S. Mere From Swiss home Clyde Carter, road patrolman at Swisshome, was in Eugene Monday and transacted business with the county court. ASTORIA, Ore., Aug. 7. (A) Free after having been held for 24 hours in the clutching sands on lower Sand Island, the Danish motprship Stensby proceeded to Astoria today for a survey to determine what dam age had been suffered by the ground ing just before midnight Saturday. The Stensby was removed from the sand through the asnistance of the coast guard cutter Redwing and by her own efforts. Soon after mid night today, when the tide was full, the Redwing took a line and strained nt the grounded vessel. The Stensby kept its propellors working and just as the freighter appeared to move a trifle, the hnwser parted. It was be lieved'the effort had failed.
