Linday, Camp Adair sailor seriously injured in the Sunday night auto collision at Chemawa junction which resulted in the death of a fellow sailor, was reported "doing as well as can be expected" Tuesday night by the Camp Adair naval hospital. Naval authorities at the hospital had no other announcement con cerning the accident, or the death of sailor Raymond Leo Heath. City police who investigated the acci dent had charged Lindsay with car theft before giving the case over to naval authorities. EXTRADITION ORDERED Governor Earl Snell Tuesday authorized the extradition of M. A. Dunn, in jail be re, charged with non support in Cowlitz coun ty. Wash. Also announced by the trades and labor council was its support of the police benefit dance this week, and a reiteration of its stand against any proposal for a" city manager form of municipal gov ernment. Regular meeting dates will be the first and third Tuesdays of each month. Membership in the new pot. now nearing 200, was strewed. and all members were urged to bring a new member to the next meeting. Commander Don Goode will appoint a committee to encourage employment of veterans in Salem by keeping in liaison with the U.S. employment service and see ing that veterans receive consid eration by all local employers. His ranch of 100 acres has been, sold to Carl Morrison of Salem who has other ranch interests. Hulse will move with his fami ly to Eugene as soon as he can find suitable quarters in which to live while building a house on land recently purchased there. Mrs. Lulu Collins visited her son Bud Collins at Idanha a few days last week. Portland Get 80,000 Pounds of Butter PORTLAND, Feb. 12 ? Port landers brightened today at news of a surprise shipment of 80,000 pounds of butter, but a creamery spokesman sourly predicted it wouldn't help the shortage much. A creamery here bought the butter, of midwest "B" grade, which originally wa slated for Russia but was no longer needed under !end-lafte. Wagner, 25, ret-ently was promoted to elertrioian's mate, 3'c, aboard this attack transport. He is the husband of Geraldine Wagner. 1911 North Church st., Salem, Ore., and has two children Sharon Lee, 5, and Terry Earl, 2. His parent. Mr and Mrs. Christ Wagner live, on route 2, Salem. He was employed as a mainten ance man by the Miller Trans former Co., Portland. Ore., before entering the service in June, 1944. He reported aboard this ship in October. 1944. During the first critical week of the Okinawa invasion. Wagner served aboard a landing boat transporting units of the First marine division to the beachhead.
